Too Much Water

We were very lucky, except for the fact that our toilets couldn’t be flushed for a few hours. I won’t go into details on that little situation. We have now had officially twelve inches of rain and the majority of it all fell in just a matter of a few hours. All around us there are neighborhoods standing in two to five feet of water. The ground is just so saturated that there is nowhere for the water to go.

Yesterday morning only one lane on US-1 was open going south and going north was nearly impossible due to the standing water. Mr. Pop waited a couple of extra hours before venturing off to work. A trip that usually takes twenty minutes took him almost forty five minutes.

Yes, I am sick and tired of gloomy cloudy skies, rain and wind and the constant fear we will lose electricity, but all in all, we have been very lucky. Perhaps by tomorrow I will feel secure enough with the electricity to leave the computer on all day long. A day without computer usage is just like a day without sunshine, and I’ve had neither for several days.

By the time you read this we may know the name of the person Senator Obama has chosen for his running mate. What do you think?

Not yet... how we wait.

As for you, I know FL needs the rain but this is a lot at once.

Stay dry and hope the sun comes out soon for you and Fred! And Mr. PoP too!

I'll take about half a foot of that water. It has not rained here in weeks.

I'm thinking I cannot even imagine what 30" of water in only a couple of days can do, but we'll be seeing it soon a little north of you guys... hoping you're safe and dry.

Gloomy, Rainy days make me happy.

I don't know why, it is so opposite from what most people experience, but I love cool, rainy days.

Still, nothing about the VP choices.

Stay High and Dry, and if you can't be dry, then just stay high (on life, of course)

It's hard to imagine that much rain in such a short time. That's more than some parts of California get in a lucky winter season. I hope this TS moves on for good. You do need a spell of sunshine and blue skies.

About VPs, when the announcement comes I want the pick to make my heart soar. What's the likelihood of that happening?

I'm with nick on the gloom factor, but I could do without the 12 inches of the stuff in hours. Glad it's finally getting out of there.

Yup. We had 8 inches over a few hours yesterday morning and left everything here wet too. Just no place to put it in that amount of time. We feel for you. Lots and lots of rain in Florida over the last couple of days. Good luck to you!
