Amazing Martini

Not so long after we adopted Martini we discovered if we said, “Martini, crate”, he would trot to his crate and go in. We could then close the crate door and run our errands or whatever we needed to do. We never leave him in the crate over two hours.

Each Saturday morning when we start getting dressed to go to the grocery Martini knows something is up and starts getting all excited thinking he might be going with us as he does when we take him to the groomer. I try to let him know not to get too excited when he isn’t going by saying to him, “No, not today”, if he is going to be staying home. Then when we are ready to leave we just say, “Martini, crate” and in the crate he goes.

This past Saturday morning he was not going to be going with us so when he started getting all excited I said what I always say, “No, not today”. A few minutes later Mr. Pop asked, “Where is Martini?”. I began looking all over the house getting more worried as I could not find him. Usually he is wherever I am. As just a thought I happened to look in his crate. There he was curled up on his towel looking very proud of himself. He had crated himself in anticipation of what he knew was to come. He never fails to surprise us with his abilities.

You really got lucky to find such a treasure (so did he - in you!)

It's great having an intelligent dog. It's why we love Cattle Dogs so much.
