The Dirt Begins to Fly

So far, from the right we have heard that Judge Sotomayor is a racist and not very smart. What? Are they jealous that she isn’t in their party? If she were a racist and poorly educated seems to me she would fit in nicely with them.

Of course she is neither a racist nor is she unintelligent, but that doesn’t stop them from saying it. Sometimes that gift of the freedom of speech seems to be abused in a very crude way.

If people are going to say these things about her, it's fair to ask them to explain why a Republican president nominated her to a federal bench in the first place.

These folks have suddenly realized that President Obama has played them like a cheap violin once again. He nominated someone with the highest legal credibility...summa cum laude Princeton, Yale Law Review, 6 years Federal judge and 10 years on the 2nd circuit and she is Latina and a woman. Game, set, match.
Now these folks are saying that she is no different from Harriet Miers and just a token woman appointment. They know they wasting their time but they just have to whine...it is in their nature.

I looked up other New York born women of Puerto Rican ancestry, and all the rest of the famous are in the entertainment field. Congratulations to Judge Sotomayor for achieving the American Dream of improving your lot in life through hard work and education.

No disrespect to her fellow Nuyoricanas Jennifer Lopez, Rosie Perez and Rosario Dawson. Especially Rosario, who is way beyond hot in my book.

Newt Gingrich must never, ever, ever want to be president. Ducking moron (to use Fred-speak)has shot himself in the foot over this nomination. I say good riddance.

watch Rachel Maddow for great analysis of this woman's judicial accomplishments, and for holding up and putting down - soundly - bogus claims by the very far right of the GOP about her. She's going to be appointed, and these GOPs jerks are just embarrassing themselves.

Jesus Christ Himself could have been nominated by President Obama, and the GOP would be finding ways to smear Him.

Did NONE of these old white guys ever play little league? Didn't they learn not to be sore losers?

Imagine if there were a law that you couldn't lie on TV. Politics as we know it would change forever. Or perhaps we wouldn't have "politics," merely "governance."

The mind reels.

Sewmouse is right.

If Christ returned today and looked like he probably looked about two thousand years ago, they would dismiss him outright as a hippie or liberal or whatever.

If Ben Franklin was around today, they would probably be after him for sex scandals, being a liberal, etc.

Heck, Dwight Eisenhower was a Republican but would be considered a liberal by the standards of those who today claim to speak for the Republican party.

Good Republicans must just be squirming in their boots these days. Their would-be leaders, guys like Limbaugh, Cheney and Newt are beginning to look more cartoonish, like caricatures. Where are those conservatives who don't like that kind of mindless crap? Why are they not making a concentrated effort to police their party and bring it back toward the center?

I believe allowing the current crew of morons (Rush, Newt, Cheney, et al) to finish what is amounting to their complete takeover of the Republican party will do little more than drive more people away from the GOP.

Of course, that might not be such a bad thing! 8-)
