Condi tosses a match into Iraqi gasoline

“BAGHDAD — Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice mocked anti-American cleric Muqtada al-Sadr as a coward on Sunday, hours after the radical leader threatened to declare war unless U.S. and Iraqi forces end a military crackdown on his followers.”

and

"I know he's sitting in Iran," Rice said dismissively, when asked about al-Sadr's latest threat to lift a self-imposed cease-fire with government and U.S. forces. "I guess it's all-out war for anybody but him," Rice said. "I guess that's the message; his followers can go too their deaths and he's in Iran."

And exactly where was the leader sitting who declared the invasion of Iraq? Was it all out war for anyone but him? Was he there with the soldiers fighting and dying due to his command? Whose troops went to their deaths in Iraq while their leader cleared brush, rode his bike and made incoherent statements in the USA?

You know, this upsets me and terrifies me.

The drumbeat of war goes on. I hate feeling this pessimistic.

Sorry, meant to hit preview and his post!

Anyway, our admin is the very essence of cowardice. And the use of these words indicates bullying behavior, the domain of course of the coward.

There are too many months left of the Bush disaster for me to feel comfortable and it appears that all his minions are just as unstable as ever if not more so.

OT...PoP thanks for taking care of the place while we were gone. In spite of having all the windows sealed tightly shut the place is coated in a thin layer of pollen and we forgot to tell you where the dust rags were. The squirrels ate half the deck in frustration that the birdfeeders weren't kept topped off but thems the breaks. As soon as I can get to it I will post you some special pictures of the spring lambs that we had to wade through on our walks.

In other words, someone please grab that roll of "Homeland Security Duct Tape" and silence these war mongering tools of the MIC.

too long to go before the new president and it's clear this administration is trying to goad someone/anyone into attacking us abroad or HERE before the election.

Bush did have some free time to show up on a game show. Condi should shut her stupid mouth. I can't wait until these people are convicted for their war crimes.

Robin, I hope you aren't holding your breath... There will be no accountability - and there seldom is. The "fair and just" country you were taught to believe in is a fallacy - unless you are among the "annoited ones". Makes for good citizenship propaganda, but the Constitution is "just a piece of paper".

And Sherry is right, they are goading whomever they can into creating an excuse to expand military operations in the ME. With what troops remains a mystery, thus leaving indiscriminate air bombardment as their only recourse. It will be a very nasty, protracted conflict should they succeed - and it's pretty ugly already. These chicken-hawks are endangering national security more and more each time they open their mouths. They are traitors to the Constitution, the American people, and venal tools of the corporate elite.

Additionally, these are not party issues, they are entrenched corruption issues. Vote the person, not the party. Bush, Clinton, McCain - all beholden to the same masters. Leaving but one inexperienced choice who has no real long term track record on which to base an opinion. But I'm still rooting for him, as the last hope for democracy...

Of course this is part of the argument for impeachment- even if the goal was never to remove Bush/ Cheney from office at least they'd be too tied up fighting the impeachment to get in much mischief elsewhere.

If you could find an investigator and prosecutor who would actually prosecute, you could likely make many charges stick - at least as many as ALs Seigelman was imprisoned for. And if the top was ever fully blown off of this box of hypocrisy there would likely be a whole lot of rats jumping ship to offer up their services as state's witnesses.

Without teeth, they simply close ranks and weather it out - while setting the spin machine to 11.

1] get someone, anyone, to attack us.

2] declare state of emergency/martial law.

3] suspend all activities of Congress and the SCOTUS.

4] suspend elections in the US indefinitely.

5] problems solved.

TC, 'm going to disagree here. There is one thing that may save us from the martial law scenario. The economy is collapsing so quickly, that I think the Reich strategy will be to exacerbate that failure as much as possible, dump it on the Democrats, blame the Democrats for the effects, and try to position themselves as saviors in 2012.

Given that this *cough*cough* administration started out so lamely yet once given a game break (9/11) they have ruled the Republic Democracy through the fear card paying back all of the IOU's to their Saudi and corporate masters along the way. Crushing as many freedoms of the governed as it could.

Here is a scenario to consider.

With a 28% approval rating and only 271 days left in his Reichstag to secure a positive place in history, he sends his trained toothless dog out to bark. Maybe he wants to be the one to push the button on Iran, so Hillery won't have a chance to?

Then he can stand beside Truman as one of the only two in history with true cajones in war to make the hard choice.

Throw the sovereign state of Iraq into total chaos, take Iran (remember they are not Arab but Aryan) off the map. Open the door for our favorite pet, Israel, to control the area. Of course the Palestinian diaspora will be given a homeland in the now un-inhabitable nuclear waste land.

Thereby ensuring the peace and the total recovery of Jerusalem for the theocons, which long for it so, because as a man of *cough*cough* integrity he owes them as well and he always pays whats owed.

See a nice and tidy package to hand over to the Democrat. You do realize the son of a bitch took this nation to war in less than 271 days, no?

Peace

TWM

Like Bush and the rest of this mis-Administration she is an A H! They are going to instigate him and whoever else they can. Petraeus was given the command as expected. The attack on Iran is getting closer. I heard he could take over as early as this fall then the attack will happen. Too timely!

Ms. Rice is such a lightweight in foreign affairs it's only more evidence of Darth Cheney's destruction of the Constitution and his warmongering to bolster oil policies and prices. A report in Newsweek this week said that of the outsiders found in one province of Iraq a majority of them were from Saudi Arabia -- so let's bomb them. Oh no, that's Bush country!
