Media Priorities

Senator Obama made comments a week or so ago that the media hyped all weekend long. I heard Senator Obama called “elitist” and “uppity”, because of those remarks.

Guess the media missed the part about bush admitting he approved of torture.

“In a stunning admission to ABC news Friday night, President Bush declared that he knew his top national security advisers discussed and approved specific details of the CIA’s use of torture. Bush reportedly told ABC, “I’m aware our national security team met on this issue. And I approved.” Bush also defended the use of waterboarding.”
-ACLU-

Maybe all this week and next weekend the media could spend a whole lot of time talking about the President of the United States publicly saying he approved of torture.

This calls for a heap of discussion and, in my opinion, the appointment of a special prosecutor.

The media is more obsessed with statements democrats make, whether true (as in Obama's case) or false (a in Hillary's) than it is in statements McCain makes (which are false) or Bush makes (which are treasonous). Maybe we should all contact media outlets and ask them why they condone a violation of the Geneva convention.

I agree with you 110%.

And I just hate hate hate -- a thousand times HATE -- it when people use the word "uppity" to describe Senator Obama. In the not far enough away past, the "U" word was too often paired with the "N" word. "Uppity" just turns my stomach.

I just do not understand how we allow the MSM to manipulate what is fact and what is nothing.

As you stated Bush and his administration has admitted to torture and all we hear is what Obama said a few weeks ago, which happens to be true in my opinion.

What America is about to do is allow McCain to waltz right into the White House and continue what Bush is doing now.

Will we ever get things right in the Democratic party?

Disapproving torture is so elitist of you POP. As is expecting accountability of the president.

What a high-falutin' attitude you show here.

i believe it has already passed the point of a special prosecuter, or anyone associated with government in the u.s. to deal with.

this screams for trial in the hague.

I'm with Minstrel Boy--I don't think there's anyone in the US judiciary who can try this case fairly and without prejudice. Take 'em all to the Hague; this seems to me sufficient evidence to prosecute for war crimes.

As for Obama's "elite" words, I thought the guy was telling the truth -- a first for a politician. I guess that makes me uppity as well. I'm disappointed that Hillary is handling this like it's the big issue, when the president and all his pals just basically confessed to international war crimes.

yep, he told the truth and it was just too much for some people.

maybe if he had said "pissed off" instead of " bitter" the people here wouldn't have gotter pissed off at the truth.

hillary, in the meantime, to show how "blue collar" she is, when and did a shot at a bar, wow, that just makes her "regular people"!!!

i could just scream.

they should most certainly be tried as war criminals.

the people must demand it. that is, if they can tear themselves away from
uppity blacks and gun-totin' mamas.

it's all a joke with no punch line.

I don't think the DOJ is the DOJ as in Justice any more. If Mukasey refused to appoint a special prosecutor for the US Attorney probe, not much chance he will make his boss face one for possible war crimes. Thank you again, DiFi and Chuck.

Why in hell are you libs so damn hung up over a little waterboarding? What is the big f**king deal?So someone gets a bit of water up their nose. You ever see the size of some of these arabs noses? You could use a fire hose on them.
I'd be willing to bet if you asked the husbands and wives (yes, even the jersey girls)and kids of the people killed on 9-11 if a bit of intense questioning would have prevented the attack the vast majority would give a thumbs up in favor.
Its amazing how you bleeding hearts can be so damn above the fray when your ass is'nt on the line.

oh, PoP--
the MSM sees it as SO important to chastise a dem for saying the people are bitter and are turning to the things that bring them comfort.
[HELLO! I'M bitter and I just started a new blog on spiritual matters. if that doesn't prove the truth of what he said, I don't know what does--]

but, discuss what Bush said? pay attention to the fact that the tantrumer-in-chief condones torture? or to the fact that Cheney micro-managed torture from the White House?
it'll never happen.

Brave words, Nose-obsessive nameless guy.
1.WW II Japanese guards were tried for water-boarding P.O.W.s--on war crimes charges.
2. The "intense questioning" preventing a crime/ticking bomb scenario has NEVER, in the HISTORY of HUMANKIND, happened. The scenario came out of a famous work of fiction, title escapes me, but you can look it up. Wingnuts of your nose-obsessive type have been running with it ever since.

Moving right along, CrooksandLiars and the ACLU have a petition demanding a special prosecutor, signable. And the MSM should hear from us: call and Email CNN, MSNBC, etc. Here's the number for ABC: 212-456-7777. You'll get the main switchboard operator. Yesterday it was Essie, so be nice. Ask for more Yoo, less bitter.
