Senator Clinton’s new plan?

Someone on the tv yesterday said for Senator Clinton to win she would have to take the Tonya Harding approach. Meaning she would have to kneecap Senator Obama.

Senator Clinton’s plan seems to be unfolding. First this from Slate.

“What the hell is Clinton doing meeting with reporters and editors of the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review? The Tribune-Review is a money-losing fringe publication published by Richard Mellon Scaife, a bilious and wealthy crank who spent the 1990s manufacturing vile innuendo about the Clintons. If the "vast, right-wing conspiracy" on which first lady Hillary Clinton famously blamed her troubles can be said to exist, its chairman and chief executive officer was Scaife. Scaife gave the American Spectator $2.3 million to dig up dirt on Bill Clinton, and he used the Tribune-Review to spread, among other things, the reprehensible allegation that Hillary Clinton killed Vince Foster, a clinically depressed deputy White House counsel who committed suicide in 1993.”

Then yesterday I heard that Senator Clinton was going to appear on Fox News last night.

She has aligned her life experience with that of Senator McCain. President Bill Clinton aligned her love of her country with that of Senator McCain. I’m thinking maybe Senator Clinton’s new plan is to run as a Republican.

Hillary is the consummate politician - maneuvering with whomever and whatever she encounters, that may help her.

We can rail at her for this but we should also bear in mind that this is what politics always was at some level... and what has become over the years.

She has been belly-up close to Murdoch at Fox for awhile now. None of this should really be any big surprise.

Not a big surprise, but still vomit-inducing nonetheless.
"Sorry about saying you're a murderer."
"Oh, that's okay, just politics."

I just hope that if Obama actually manages to set foot in the White House next January without there having been any postponements or cracker power trips, that we remember shit like this and put aside any healing crap. People - using the term extremely loosely - that wankers like Scaife bankroll must be made into pariahs at worst and inmates at best.

We have seen now that this woman will lie and bed with the enemy to get what she wants.

It's sad that a lot of Democrats are buying in to what she is doing. They seem to be as most Republican was with Bush.

I hope they wake up and see this Senator for what she really is. She will destroy a party to have her way.

what a major disaster she has been -- while she has every right to stay in the race..... she does so at the risk of alienating and splitting a party THAT HAS SUPPORTED her in so many ways -- like through 2 senate races.. that were obviously just springboards for her

she has lost my vote forever

I've been going out of my way to avoid saying bad stuff about Clinton but that Scaiffe thing pisses me off in a manner that has nothing to do with the Democratic primary.

I've gotten in heated arguments with friends and family over the years defending the Clintons from a lot of crap that was thrown at them almost all of it unfairly. A good portion of that crap can be traced directly to Scaiffe.

He is more responsible than anyone else for the ridiculous impeachment of Bill Clinton (if Bill hadn't been screwing around with Monica they would've just impeached him for something else.)

Bottom line: the only thing she should've been doing if she was in the same room with that jerk was to be punching him in the face.

Further to the 'HilBilly' team, I am thinking of opening a book over at my place and I thought I might offer 10 to 1 on, that 'Hil' divorces 'Billy' when she fails to take the White house. Lousy odds, I know, but it must be a near dead cert.

More interesting would be a book on how long it takes her to file for divorce starting from the date she admits defeat. I suppose it will depend on how the 'HilBillys' stand financialy after this incredible spending binge they have been on. If there is still plenty of cash sloshing around I would say the announcement would be made *within* the first year.

'Dean Wormer' above, writes, plaintively: "if Bill hadn't been screwing around with Monica they would've just impeached him for something else". I have no wish to rake over old embers, not when there's plenty of fires going on around us, but the point is, or was, that Bill *was* screwing around with Monica - and he lied about it.

Interesting essay at The American Spectator - yes, yes, I know but just hold your nose when you read it - comparing sex scandals in the States today with the famous old one in England in the '60s when Profumo, the War Minister, resigned because he had lied to parliament over his, er, connection to a call girl. Positively quaint! Today, our parliamentary honourable gentlemen wouldn't resign if they were caught in an orgy with half a dozen choirboys from St. Pauls!

No one is more disappointed in Clinton than I am. Like Dean Wormer, I've spent years defending the Clintons, and to repaid by watching Hillary lower herself to woo scum like Scaife and Murdoch--well, I have no words for how I feel about that.

If THIS doesn't wake up the Progressives on Clinton's side to the fact that something is VERY VERY Wrong here, nothing will. It's time to move your support to Obama.

Absolutely. But I also have a very vivid recollection of efforts getting under way to impeach Clinton from just after the time the GOP took back congress. That was the whole point of the Whitewater investigation and explains so clearly why Kenneth Starr was able to switch gears to Monica without batting an eyeball.

None of that excuses Bill's actions on any level. He's an ass for what he did. But I firmly believe they would've impeached him over something else because the point wasn't to correct some sort of wrongdoing, it was to kick the legs out from under Bill Clinton who the right-wing HATED.

In light of her own voting history, maybe she should have run as a repudlickum. It might have given her more credibility.

I wish someone would take charge of this process and get her to stop for the good of the party. I only hope she does poorly in Pennsylvania. This month in between primaries has taken way too long. And aren't they having a debate coming up? Oh help us...

Did anyone see Ron Reagan on CNN the other night? He said Clinton cannot win the nomination, but she can make sure that Obama loses it, and that's exactly what she's doing. Or trying to, anyway. I used to think she was okay, but not anymore.
