The good. The bad. And the frustrating

If I started telling you the many frustrations we have had this week trying to get out computer back on line, I think I might explode. So much time was wasted due to the fact that the first person we talked to at tech support didn’t know or didn’t care what she was doing. We were on the phone with her for 45 minutes last Saturday and waited four days to receive the cable she said she would send out.

Finally we decided to give it another stab and we called support again. This time we got a great guy, he diagnosed the problem in less than five minutes, and sent out the new modem via UPS overnight. Now that’s professional service!

Trouble is the new modem didn’t work. So today a tech came to the house and bingo chango, I’m back on line.

I kinda had mixed emotions about being computer-less. I missed the hell out of knowing what was going on, on the net, and finding out what you guys were up to, but I did find myself with lots of time to do lots of things that had been patiently waiting for me to get around to them.

So two good things came from this experience. I have a shiny new DSL modem and I have a shiny clean house to match.

Glad you're back...but I hear ya about the extra time that happens to magically appear when not blogging. I'm cutting back on my own time spent on the blogs. If I only had a cat that could do my posts for me. I have a dog, and she won't do shit for me...thinks I should be scratching her belly the whole time she typing. Pfffft!

I'm glad your time away from the computer was productive, Pop. That's the best part of down time. I'm trying to keep my blog habit to mornings only. Lots of yard work and gardening to do these days, and I can't get it done if I'm staring at this shiny screen.

Yay you are back!!

The world of tech support is so frustrating at times. What a hassle.

You were greatly missed, that I can tell you.

I am too attached to this computer as is evidenced by my not quite as clean as it could be house and my many unfinished tasks!!

I feel for ya. I went through this with my ISP a few months ago. They randomly decided to shut off my internet for no reason at all. It took them a week to figure out what was wrong. So much for customer service in our "service economy"...

I am not sure that I understand - the tech that came to fix your modem also cleaned your house? Cool! ;O)

Good thing I don't have a computer at home, cause even without one my place isn't shiny. Not by a long shot.

I have trepidations that we're all going to adjust to life sans computers pretty soon.

That's why we don't have TV at my house--TONS of hours are now spent on other things besides mindlessly watching CSI and Forensic Files....

but boy do I miss CSI and Forensic Files....

Glad you're back!

Just dropped by to say Hello.

Hello PoP.

Glad you got your modem fixed.

They said they can't fix mine. Actually, they said people don't have modems in their heads, and I needed to stop calling.

What's that buzzing sound if it's not my modem?

Glad everything is both hunky and dory, but no internets can be a good thing, especially if they lead to the promised land of clean houses.

CLEANING the house when the modem goes down? what a novel idea! I tend to switch over to watching Meerkat Manor or a show about parallel universes . . . and so much for the house.

the only thing that works here is to clean before turning on anything electrical [except the vacuum cleaner].
