One Concerned Cat

Jeez, some human beings make me want to rip up the couch cushions with my claws.

I heard that about 20% of Hillary supporters and about the same number of Obama supporters, say they will vote for McCain if their candidate loses.

How selfish is that? To say they would take a chance on punishing our country for four more years just because they didn’t get the democratic candidate the wanted. Folks look at the big picture here. Deep inside you know full well that either democratic candidate is a zillion times better than John, bomb Iran, McCain.

And maybe you could have some mercy on me. I don’t want to live through four more years of hearing Pop yell “duck” every time the president of the United States is speaking on TV.

I’m keeping my feline eye on those people who threaten to vote for McCain and hoping they realize that it’s not about them, it’s about all of us, our country and our future.

Have a great weekend and please take time to enjoy the wonders of nature

Sincerely,
Fred the Cat (the cat who loves you guys)

PoP, on my Walmart argument...

As I argued, in many places there is nowhere else to go. If Walmart is the town's only grocery store, that's where people will go.

So even if you see a lot of cars, that is no indication that people are spending like it's 1999.

Walmart's costs are going up. We know that people are spending more on gasoline and cutting back on food and clothing. This must include Walmart customers.

one hopes that people are just speaking out of anger. after the conventions and we get to the one on one battling -- people will realize that McCain is not only Bush III, but a truly loathsome person that we wouldnt want to have for 4 or 8 more years. so pay no attention to those polls behind the curtain -- they are meaningless now.

but the divide in the dem party is real and one can only hope that the loser will be gracious and that the all this will be 'forgotten' and the venom is turned towards the GOP for ruining this country

Unless there is some kind of economic miracle, and with gas prices predicted to rise 75 cents a gallon before summer (there goes your stimulus check, right into the hands of the oil companies) I don't see it happening, there is no way that any body is going to vote for McCain over whichever Democrat is nominated. The foundation of all politics in this country is: It's the economy, stupid.

Even with all the uproar in the Democratic ranks both Hillary and Barack are leading McCain by 6 points in the latest Pew poll. Let the economy weaken a little more and you will see that spread double.
People are just talking stupid. They'll fall in behind the chosen candidate.

I am happy to hear that Fred is a democrat. I fear that M. Inkey is a Libertarian. There is something about him the way he goes about getting his needs met above the needs of others says he is not voting for Hillary or Obama. I love him anyways.

maybe you could sharpen your claws on the faux democrats fred.

i will offer my opinion that the supporters of one of the dems have more reason to mistrust the other candidate than vice versa. and i heartily concur that the whole country has mega-reasons to mistrust mccain.

Unfortunately, with the way Hillary is running her scorched-earth, take no prisoners campaign she not only damages Obama, but herself and the Democratic party. Their overall positioning on the political spectrum (Clinton v. McCain) isn't that far apart and I'm sure many Obama supporters would have to give serious thoughts to abandoning the party that abandoned them. Hillary's only saving grace is that she is more progressive on many issues than McCain, but since when have voters done what is in their best interests?

Don't worry, Fred, people's passions will cool. Once we're down to a Democrat and a Republican running, the differences between them will be so stark and significant. A true Democrat could never in a zillion years vote for 100 years of war McCain.

oh fred, i know what you mean. the man and i went to bed feeling so forlorn last night, because we saw that poll as well. when did so many become so mean spirited that they would allow the madness to continue?
it says a lot about the mindset of hillary as well as her desperate supporters, that they would threaten us with more of the same. hateful comes to mind.

Yes, brilliant logic isn't it? Continue the war in its current guise, continue the brilliant economic program of Dumya, and let John McNutjob put two or three right wing nut cases (excuse me, strict constructionists)onto the Supreme Court and untold numbers into the other levels of the federal judiciary. That'll show 'em. Good Grief.

We can only hope that they are temporarily talking out of their hineys. Tell PoP to turn OFF the TV when shrub is on. Otherwise, the TV might self-destruct.

ohhhhhhh, Fred---
ducks, ducks, ducks, ducks!!!
I hope these people back down when Bush comes to shove----

I have just 2 words to throw back at em: Supreme Court!!!
if they want Roe v Wade overturned; if they want our kids to be forced to learn Creationism [and barred from the international communities of the astronomers and quantum physicists]; if they want more and more racism practiced in this country; they'll make good on their threats.
otherwise, they'll get behind whoever runs against McCain.
xxx
well -- ok -- MORE than 2 words.

I will vote for whoever gets the dem nomination. If they prevailed by ignoring the total primary voters & subverting pledged delegates, I won't actively support them (oooh, they'll be so sorry when they don't get my pissant $$ contribution). But they will get my vote because I don't want McCain. Self-interest, Fred -- you know what I mean.
