Little Box Turtles have to eat too

This little box turtle, along with another one, show up in our backyard every morning. They nudge over ND-Anna’s food bowl and chow down on the remaining cat food.

For anyone who doesn’t know who ND-Anna is, she is a little feral cat that appears at our screen door each morning and chats with Fred the Cat while waiting for me to give her cat food kibbles and a little can of cat food. After she eats what she wants, along come the two hungry box turtles for their breakfast.

Ours is a peaceful kingdom. Thank goodness there is peace somewhere.

Sad that we can't even behave as well as turtles and kittys.

It is nice for ND-Anna to leave a bit for the turtles and nice of you to take care of the little lady. We should all take a lesson from you two.

And the turtle shall lie down with the cat and there will be peace in the land.

Ah, if only.

Thanks for a beautiful post to read in the morning! (or anytime!!)

That's great wildlife you have!

I'm looking forward to a letter from the turtle about hiding in his shell when things get tough!

Along with the new kitty we inherited 2 turtles, they are interesting to watch. The kiddos love em. I say set them free! But pappa bear says not yet, don't know what he is waiting for!
By the way my kitty hasn't had any trouble pooping! I didn't even have to rub it once, I did know that however.
Nature is so amazing to me

We don't have box turtles here, so I love seeing yours. They are the coolest little critters. Nice that ND-anna leaves a little kibble and food for them. If people shared the way these critters do, there's be peace in the world.

What a sweet story. Nice to know others have a soft spot for strays of all species, too.

I have dessert tortoises. I make them special food...cook it up and freeze it for them...it's a chore. But they are worth it.
