Karl left. Why?

Okay, so Karl Rove will be gone after this month. So what? He is freer now to come to the aid of any and all Republican candidates in the 08 elections. His hand will still be there to poison the soup. He can practice his attacks on the Democrat candidates at will and with all his energy. Sure, he’ll take a couple of months off and “be with his family” but then he’ll be just a phone call away from any Republican candidate who needs a political hit man.

The question is, did bush release him so he can help a particular candidate? My guess is if he did, it’s either Rudy or Thompson. Thompson hasn’t committed to running yet. Was he waiting for Rove?

I hope the reason Rove is leaving now is because he knows his phone number is on the DC Madam’s list and that tidbit is about to be made public. It sure would be a lot more fun than the other reasons I’ve mentioned, wouldn’t it?

I assume you mean Fred Thompson, since Tommy dropped out yesterday (or maybe the day before - it some times takes a while for the news to travel this far outside the beltway, you know?)

As for Karl, think of it like garbage: the fact that there's a lot more where that came from doesn't mean you don't gain by taking the trash out.

Did anyone else find it ironic that, when asked what he was going to do first, Rove said "Go dove hunting"? (Doves being, of course, a symbol of peace and also the term used for people against war.) How fitting.

I think most of the Republican candidates will avoid Rove like the plague. He may be a supposed political genius, but he's got the stink of George W's failures all over him.

I can't figure out what's going on, but it is same to assume Rove isn't really going away, since a dog always returns to his vomit!

I'm assuming he knows there's no place else to go with Bush and decided to get out now before the country was brought down even more.

as I told someone else, its not big deal to me that Karl's leaving, because he has mucked enough things up already. I like the madame idea as opposed to jumping on the Rudy bandwagon, since I think Fred maybe waiting for an engraved invitation to run.

I hadn't thought of the Madame's list as a possible reason. I like that one a lot. I can't imagine that he's actually leaving politics, but I'm hoping that there are a few investigations that are finally getting close enough, that leaving Washington was his way of putting some distance between him and the subpoena.

do we see the possibility of a confrontation between federal marshals serving a subpoena and texas rangers defending a homeboy?

I wish it presaged a flurry of indictments for obstruction of justice and conspiracy to obstruct justice, but it won't be.

I'll just have to be satisfied with getting him off the public payroll.

What has bothered me most about all this is the way it is being treated by the media. They are all gushing over him and calling him a genius. They are ignoring the fact that he had his hand in leaking the name of a covert CIA agent. Treason is ok as long as you're a genius? The only people on cable news commentary who called him on this was Dan Abrams and Keith Olbermann. Chris Matthews was practically salivating over the "wonders of this man". It's enough to make you sick!

Feh. The lousy stinking sack of protoplasm (a la Ren & Stimpy) will never be truly out of the works. And he's infected a whole lot of young GOP weasels with his disease.

Listening to the news this morning I had a much scarier thought: Right after Rove leaves, the administration raises the ante on Iran by labeling the revolutionary guard a terrorist organization. Maybe Rove, given his political sensibility, was arguing against pushing Iran to the point of military confrontation, and Cheney said hit the road. Nobody in the White House is running for office, so Rove is expendable. Just a thought.

Any one who believes the W, Rove and Co as to why Rove left is dumber than I look.

Why a portion of the GOP continues to accept their lies is beyond me.

The DC Madam idea is nice, but something like a Mark Foley scandal would be even better.

I like what Larry said, about the dog returning to his own vomit. What Karl spews out IS vomit, of the most repulsive kind. And he doesn't know any other way of doing things... the only way he won't return to doing what he does is if he is dead.

I think he may be ready to help one of the GOP candidates behind the scenes. He'll keep a low profile while he designs ways to smear the opponents of the GOP candidate for whom he chooses to work. My guess is that he would probably choose whoever he thinks has the best chance to win, so we probably won't know until the GOP situation shakes out a bit more.

When we see a smear campaign starting up against one of the GOP candidates, we can probably safely guess that it's Karl behind it. Then he will have all kinds of fun helping the GOP nominee, whoever it is, particularly if Hillary Clinton gets the Democratic nomination. I can't imagine what the smears will be like if she gets the nomination, and we can't begin to imagine what a boon her nomination could be for GOP fundraising... sigh...

Rove must be absolutely salivating at the chance to advise someone like Fred Thompson on how to use "star power" to cause voters to bypass their critical thinking skills. Or the chance to smear any Democrat who might use the failed Iraq war or complaints about the Patriot Act, FISA violations, etc. when taking on Rudy Giuliani. Such opportunities would be SO much more fun and challenging than spending time with Dumbya at the White House, trying to spin the administration's sad story into something positive.

The GOP is able to get people to believe the lies because they tell the same lies over and over and they tell them often. They have AM radio and FOX television to spread their disinformation, and those outlets reach millions of faithful viewers and listeners. Desperate for ratings, other news outlets besides FOX are now also stooping to low and irresponsible journalistic levels, as they either knowingly or unknowingly help numerous outright Republican lies to become "conventional wisdom" among voters:

The media is "liberal"... Saddam Hussein was responsible for the 9/11/01 attacks... "tax cuts" are helping our economy... Democrats are "weak on terror"... deficit spending is not a bad thing... Democrats don't believe in God... global warming may not be real, because there seems to be a debate on it among scientists... if the government spies on us, it's for our own good... the Fairness Doctrine was unfair, so forget about reinstating it... the Iraq war is a smashing success... etcetera etcetera etcetera ad NAUSEUM.

There are simply too many right wing lies to mention. And people like Karl Rove have the gift, if you can call it that, of being able to spoonfeed such bullshit to millions of people and get them to believe it. Well, if you are what you eat, then yes, our current national political situation STINKS.

Thanks a lot to you, Karl, the King of Divide and Conquer, for all your help in wrecking what millions of us hold dear. Your success in helping polarize American voters must be beyond your wildest dreams. You have been the architect of division. You must view America as a toilet... it will possibly take our country decades to recover from the dumps you have been taking on it.

Oops! I'm ranting! Enough of that. Let's just say Karl Rove sucks all kinds of nasty things, and call it good.
