Serious Emotional Ups and Downs

Sometimes I wonder if my emotions can hold on to this political bungee cord they seem to be attached to these days. One minute I’m giddy with excitement thinking that Obama is going to nail this thing. The next minute I’m lower than low as the idea of McCain somehow winning just takes me into a deep funk.

Common sense says that Obama should win by a landslide, but Americans aren’t always known for using common sense.

Anxiety has reached a whole new level in my life right now. I’m counting the days. Why does each one have to last so long?

Obama supporters are stressed because they cannot and should not trust the polls. They have been disappointed before. McCain supporters are stressed because they they think the World is about to end with their man going down in flames. One would hope that while their World does not end, it is dramatically altered as a result.

Almost makes me want to take up the demon rum again. Chemically induced apathy would be welcome right about now. I can feel your pain for sure.

PoP... I share your anxiety as well. I try and deal with by repeating to myself that I can only do my part to make the world and this country a better place by voting for the person who gives us that chance.... Obama.

You can vote early starting today in Florida. Go vote and know that one more vote is in the bag for Obama/Biden.
It is almost over and the only only thing that can keep Obama out the White House is a low voter turnout. Make sure everyone you know votes. A telephone call or even an offer of a ride to the polls might make the difference.

The news reports seem to be saying that Obama has it. And now with Powell saying how screwed up McCain and Palin are, it's even better.

No matter who wins the presidency, it seems that the Dems will pick up a larger majority in Congress, and hopefully with more votes in their pocket Reid and Pelosi will get bolder in their actions reigning in the executive branch. So while a McCain win would be a tragedy, it would be a complete disaster.

That should've been "it would NOT be a complete disaster." Apparently my computer doesn't believe that.

Like a say over at my blog, don't celebrate early, but don't lose sleep, either.

The process of early voting in so many states means that Obama's lead right now has real meaning. I understand the mistrust of the electoral system in this country, but to steal an election it has to be close enough to steal, and right now, this one isn't.

Keep your chin up. Early October will be here soon enough.

I feel good for a little while -- then a talking head shows us how few states McSame has to get in order to get the votes he needs and I panic all over again.

even worse that McSame is the thought of Palin one broken hip from the oval office.

PoP, you are NOT alone. I just keep telling myself that in 15 days the entire Palin family will be back in Alaska and her 15 minutes of fame will be OVER.

It MUST be over. It WILL be over.
We will triumph.

But I am consindering Prozac for the next 15 days.

it's killin' me! I have had to take a vacation from t.v. news...that helps. And I just purchased a lovely bottle of Bombay Sapphire. that helps, too. And if it comes to hittin' the streets, as Annie says, I can fling my sure-to -be -empty- by then bottle at some deserving target.
