Please don’t wake me up

I tell you, I am still having trouble believing what happened Tuesday night. This is like having a good dream after eight years of a nightmare. For the past eight years I kept hoping we would all wake up from the nightmare and now I’m afraid I’ll wake up and this will all be just a dream.

Our lives are healing and it sure feels good!

I is not a dream and I am pretty sure it is not mass hysteria but savor it while it lasts.

I know what you mean. Eight years of Bush really weakened my spirit and, as a lifelong Dem, I was used to losing. I wasn't emotionally prepared for the enormity of the win. I expected to feel hyper-celebratory but instead, I'm just taking time to sit with my feelings which are profound. I'm still weepy but I expect to snap out of it by the weekend. It's alot to take in isn't it?

We're having a red and blue party Friday night to celebrate.

Red chili, blue tortilla chips. Leinenkugel Red beer, Blue Moon Ale. Blueberry and Strawberry fruit salad with bananas (far left) and walnuts (far right).

"It's just a box of rain
I don't know who put it there
Believe it if you need it
or leave it if you dare
But it's just a box of rain
or a ribbon for your hair
Such a long long time to be gone
and a short time to be there."

happy dreaming pop.

First, Roger, I love that poem. Secondly, let's relish in the moment. President Obama has so much work to do that I will include him in my prayers so that God gives him the strength to prevail. I wouldn't want his job. He inherited such a mess.

You know, there are republicans out there that aren't happy about yesterday. Not happy at all. They are pissed off and are already predicting that Obama will ruin America. Obama! Like Bush didn't already do that the past 8 years.
Boy, those repubs sure do sound like a nation of whiners.

:)

Suck it up, Uncle Grinny. We did for 8 long horrible years. Your turn.

if this is a dream, may none of us wake up.

actually, we all will need to wake up come late January. there will be lots of work to do and we'll all need to pitch in.

Obama & team will do the heavy lifting, but he'll need us to remind the masses that this will take time and include pain [tho not as much as we experienced over the last 8 years, I would guess.]

and, we will need to remember that he inherited a huge mess and we need to give him time to get us out of the woods -- and not turn on him in 2012.

for now, tho, we can hit the snooze button. :)

Let’s keep the expectations (and the majorities in the House and Senate) in check. B.H.O. ran to the middle and the middle elected him. He needs to preside from the middle. This economy is going to make some good changes very, very hard to make.

That said, I notice that the grass is greener, the sky bluer, the women prettier and the music sweeter that they’ve been in a long, long time.

But now the long 2 months plus until he takes office. It's going to feel like a lifetime.

As miserable as we've been for eight years, I feel like I didn't even realize HOW miserable until Obama won. Then it was suddenly like a huge weight was lifted, and I really could feel the weight of it--and its absence.

I feel the same way - and DGuzman, I felt exactly the same way - the day after the election it was like a weight was lifted, a cloud had gone away.
