You might agree

Yesterday the Palm Beach Post published a list of people who should be banished from cable TV. Can you guess who was their first selection?

Overall, how did they do? Do you agree with their choices? Did they miss someone?

Looks like a pretty good list to me, and I would add Tucker Carlson. Tom Delay and Bill O'Reilly, maybe the entire Fox News hosts, that pretty well includes all the slime anyway.

Although I feel ill from seeing all those names in one place at one time I heartily concur.

Larry's additions are well placed.

I met Michael Musto once- blech! It was long before his face was on national tv, but he has been a longtime fixture here.

He could not have been more rude and on top of that, questionable hygiene issues.

His face is a low spot on Keith's otherwise great show.

Good starting list but they missed Glen Beck. OH! and what Larry said.

They all should be banished, from the country.

The one who made number one /shudder/ is treated like a freaking God here on the Deep South. They idolize ignorance here. When is he going to stop dressing in drag?

Dennis Miller. Even when he could get a laugh from me, I didn't quite buy in. To be blunt, people who think they know everything are a real pain in the ass to those of us who actually do.

His knowledge base has always been miles wide and millimeters deep. And to use a semi-obscure movie quote to explain his pathetic existence now. "Fear is the mind killer, Chachi!"

Okay, I added the Chachi. Just trying to make Dennis feel at home if he ever stumbles onto this.

Must agree with the #1 spot- she makes me sick to my stomach. And her followers are just as bad.

Michael Musto is Keith Olbermann's boy toy...lol. Sure, he's annoying, but he's harmless...as opposed to everyone else on this list who cheerleads for torture, illegal wiretapping, pre-emptive war and the destruction of the Constitution.

I was going to guess Glenn Beck since I assumed they meant hosts, but what comandate agi said. Musto probably wouldn't enjoy watching someone being waterboarded, unlike the rest of the fuckers. Well, I doubt Al would either.

fallenmonk beat me to it, Glenn Beck is such a pig. I agree with the entire list and also agree with everyone else who added guys like O'Reilly, Dennis Miller, and Tucker. I would also like to add Larry King. I can't stand that guy and everytime he does that stupid little giggle I want to slap him right out of his depends diapers.

I was hoping to see Ann Coulter's name at the top o' the list. Public enemy #1. It makes me nauseous just to type her name. At our weekly happy hour, the deal is that I get to pull the arm hairs of anybody who dares to speak her name.

I wouldn't have put Musto or Sharpton on the list. At least they make me laugh.

I thought Bill O'Reilly would be number one. It's disappointing that his name isn't on the list at all. I was surprised to see Michael Musto. Sure he's smarmy, but he doesn't beat the drum for war or hatred.

well, i'll take the bait and object, mildly, to banning anyone. isn't the antidote to bad speech more speech, presumably good speech? i wouldn't be unhappy if all the hate-mongers went away tho.

musto seems to me to be far too trivial and silly a person to be on the list.

I agree with everyone else who's commented, and I'll add anyone on ESPN. Definitely would've put Beck and O'Reilly on instead of Al Sharpton and Michael Musto (though Musto's inordinately large and misshapen head really creeps me out).

I wouldn't ban anyone. I've written and called to protest(and sometimes to praise) a person's view but never asked for a ban. Banning Ann Coulter or anyone else is not going to change anything. Defeating total Media Consolidation , and promoting alternative media(like we are doing here) might.

A fitting Chomsky quote.
They're all feeble-minded losers, but their right to be just that should be remembered. When all-else fails, step away from the tube. That's been helping me, lately.

If Fox News would stop claiming to be "news" and "factual" and all that stuff, take the word NEWS off and replace it with SPEW, I would have no problem with them being on Cable, or any of the people associated with them. Disclaimers at the beginning of every show stating that the content is fictional and bears no resemblance to the truth... that would help.

Dennis Miller should be number one. Anybody who thinks he's funny should be executed.

Coulter doesn't bother me much. She's become a self-parody, and comes across as lonely, and sad.

I can't believe they didn't have Malkin on the list.

Haven't seen any of these people in over 15 months (I'm aware of their existence through the blogosphere and the internet news outlets)...why? I don't watch television any more. At all. All of those listed could dress up in magenta body stockings and speak in tongues and it would have absolutely no bearing on my life whatsoever.

Ignore them and they will ultimately be nothing more than lonely cries in the perpetual night of the television wasteland.

not much into the banning thing. they are all odious bastards. but, banning creates fobidden fruit. simply pay attention to the ads and refuse to buy what they are selling.

Perhaps the best solution here is to replace Faux Noise with a cartoon channel.

Number One Idiot is always, and will always be, Bill O'Reilly. Coulter is a nbole #2, but Bill is by far the most devious, creepiest, lyingest SOB on the air.

i would make coulter, sharpton and miller as all tied for the top slot (coulter makes me furious! but so does mr. opportunistic sharpton. miller is just annoying as hell, like a fly buzzing around).

however, i have also called a moratorium on cable. serious indignation only feels exhausting right now - but great topic!

I'll go with Annie's Chomsky quote, but I hope no one will mind if I lob a rotten egg or tomato in stealth, while none of you are looking of course, at anyone on the Palm Beach Post list (although one of PBP's editors should also be on that list).

Even in the most sexually liberated and self-satisfied of nations, many people still yearn to burn more, to feel ready for bedding no matter what the clock says and to desire their partner of 23 years as much as they did when their love was brand new.
The market is saturated with books on how to revive a flagging libido or spice up monotonous sex, and sex therapists say “lack of desire” is one of the most common complaints they hear from patients, particularly women.
