Happy Bistro Day!
We all wish the weekend could last a little longer, right? Mr. Pop and I are no different, so a few years ago we decided to try and make that happen.
We decided that since Christmas Eve and New Years Eve are celebrated, why not make Friday Eve a day of celebration? Friday marks the onset of the weekend and already has it’s TGIF moniker. We didn’t call Thursday, Friday Eve, we named it Bistro Day. On Thursday night of every week, we have something special for dinner and celebrate Bistro Day.
I have several funky little lights in my kitchen and on Bistro Night, they are all turned on until we go to bed. We have cocktails and toast to the special day. It’s all part of the grand celebration as we anticipate the beginning of the weekend.
Hey, you might want to start your own Bistro Day. No cards or gifts to buy, just fun to have. So, having said that, Happy Bistro Day to you and yours.

Never thought of something like this but why not, I need a longer weekend as well.
Good idea PoP. Thursday night is usually the night I come back in from the road and it is usually late but when I don't travel Madam and I will give it a try.
Never miss a chance for a party.
Happy Bistro day to you too!
Great idea and it starts here today too!
Do we get the day off, too?
what a wonderful idea!
Excellent! I will always take an excuse to party, and this is one that keeps on giving - every Thursday.
hahaha, I love this Bistro Night concept, Pop! Even better that you get to stay in to celebrate! For a few years I have called Thursday Night/Friday Eve "Garlic and Martini Night"...fresh-roasted garlic (I'm addicted to it) and Cajun martinis for me and anybody else who happens by to celebrate... But I like the idea of calling it "Bistro Night", as it opens up more options for those who aren't into garlic and cajun martinis...
Come on by and join the celebration sometime!
Ah that's the spirit POP . I am liking it. However I try and celebrate every day. Ya know when you walked with the dino's ya don't have as much time to celebrate!
Absolutely lovely idea. I think every night is bistro night at our house. Retirement will do that to you. We raise our wine glasses every evening while something is simmering on the stove, and we toast the day.
bistro day... that's funny. i guess our night for that sort of thing is always friday. we love that night, 'round here. cheers!
Bistro day sounds good. Many happy returns
!!
;->...
Thursday is the new Friday. (except for me)
Can we start with a 4:00 happy hour?
If I participate, I will have to remember to clean the fridge earlier Thursday afternoon.
Will I be in shape to take the garbage to the curb at Christ-it's-early Friday morning?
Who cares? Let it be Bistro Day!
Lovely! Same to you!
I like to celebrate every Friday as POETS Day.
POETS stands for Piss on Everything, Tomorrow's Saturday.
My celebration usually involves at least getting some takeout food, and sometimes involves getting slightly inebriated. If I'm not too pooped out from the week, I might even stay up late! 8-)>
The kittens keep us busy, new pics of them today at my site.
For some reason, Thursday night has always been a big going-out night for teh gays, both in Austin and in Fort Worth. I always figured everyone was just too impatient to wait for Friday, so they left work on Thursday (Bistro Day) and hit happy hour. Who am I to argue? Makes Friday at work a little rough, but hey--that's what Sunday afternoons are for: recovery.
Happy Bistro Day!
Around the Fixer household, today is "Little Friday"
That is a fantastic idea! I love it. Now I have to go find out what a Cajun Martini is.
BTW: Blogger sucks.
This is much better than Festivus, and involves food. I love the idea. I say we lobby for a national Bistro Day!
