How I spent last Saturday evening

Last Saturday evening while half of our country was out feverishly Christmas shopping, Mr. Pop and I were onboard the tall ship, Denis Sullivan, taking a sunset cruise. It was a complimentary occasion by invitation only. How did we get so lucky? Beats me. Seems the lady who organized the event used to be an employee at Mr. Pop’s lab.

The second and third picture are shots taken onboard the ship.

During the cruise we saw numerous shorebirds, several dolphin gliding through the water and as we were approaching the dock on our return, a curious manatee surfaced to see what was going on.

It was so nice to leave the hustle bustle behind, not think about the woes of the world, and just enjoy the beauty and peace of the natural world. It was a time for healing the soul. It was lovely.

Well I was not at the mall on Saturday and have curiously managed to avoid it almost completely.

However, I also was not on a sailboat watching shorebirds and dolphins.

What is that white stuff outside of my window? Not just snow today, but an ice storm too!

Thanks for mental moment vacation here today.

Looks lovely and I would have loved to be along. I just love sailing ships and the bigger the better. I was in Boston when the Tall Ships came in there and it was breathtaking.

That does look lovely. My Saturday and Sunday were ridiculous...and today is looking to be more of the same. This reminds me that I need to take a time out and just enjoy life for a short time, just take a breath.

Thanks!

Now this is what I call an awesome way to spend a pre-Christmas Saturday evening! Like you, I was busy not-shopping Saturday night. I left the malls to the capable hands of frantic holiday shoppers and just enjoyed a quiet evening...not nearly as lovely as yours, but it did the trick for me!

I hope the manatee stayed out of harm's way!

What a beautiful way to spend a Saturday night. Getting out and seeing the beauty of the world is a great way to balance out politics, and be reminded of the things that need protecting.

Well, that beats my hand of hanging christmas ornaments on a freezing Saturday PM in the L.I burbs of NYC. Sounds like it was a Bon Voyage.

Several lifetimes ago, I lived on a yacht, one I built myself, for eighteen months. In my study I have four model sailing ships plus a showcase of knots.

Though I'm far from the ocean I still remember the joy of the boat heeling under a stiff easterly, the spray in my face. Memories...

Wish I could've been with you Patricia. Cheers.
