Oh jeez, Fred!

Because we didn’t get back from our overnight trip Saturday before the vet’s office closed, we weren’t able to pick up Murphy and Fred the Cat until yesterday morning. Mr. Pop picked them up before he went in to work.

When he came back home with them, around eight thirty, he had a story to tell. Seems Fred the Cat decided he wasn’t in the mood for shots and the ID chip. Apparently he threw a serious cat fit that scared the hell out of everyone there. No one could touch him or hold him. He was all claws and teeth. Nope, he’d have no part of any of it. Everyone who works at the vet’s was afraid of him.

So now we have to reschedule his appointment and perhaps stay there and help them hold him in order to get the job done.

When we took his carrier out on the patio he came out cooing and rubbing against us. Calm as can be. He seems to have two personalities. When he’s away, he’s Fred the Terrible Devil Cat. When he’s home, he’s Fred the Sweetheart Cooing Cat.

I’m telling you this about him because I don’t know if he will fess up to this or not when he posts Friday.

***
I understand Michael Vick it going to plead guilty to the charges against him. Let’s hope the judge puts his ass in jail a long time. Now would be the time for the NFL to also give him the boot.

As he stated early on, he is innocent. Oh, until he was found guilty. But he apologized. Gee whiz, I wonder what will happen to a man with lots of money who is guilty as stated by his co-defendants to killing dogs if they under-performed.

Oh wait, he apologized and needs to get back to playing football.

Let's hope not and hope that Karma does in fact come back to bite him in the Ass!

You would think that the NFL would have booted him by now!!

The people at the vets office are obviously inexperienced pet handlers, I wouldn't beleive a word of it. They are likely some right-wing organization set on ruining the reputation of a wise liberal feline. Fred evil? No freaking way.

As for Vick, he needs to spend his prison time in a prison dog kennel. Prison would be too luxuroius for that inhumane scum. The NFL should bar him for life.

Fred is probably afraid that the ID chip is part of some evil Dick Cheney inspired plan. Just explain your good intentions, and I'm sure he'll cooperate the next time

Fred seems to be a one family cat which isn't all bad except when he needs some vet care.

Vick needs a little of the same medicine he felt it necessary to give the dogs and the NFL should boot him for good. He will probably dodge the bullet but I think he has lost a lot of support.

I'm sure Michael Vick will have some sad story about his childhood that will spare him from serving time. Maybe, ala OJ, he'll vow to find the real dog killer. But I certainly hope he does a couple of years in the slammer.

As for Mr. Fred...well, my normally good-natured, charming cats turn into psycho kitties at the vets. Before we're a block from home, Toby has decorated the inside of his carrier with every sort of body emission you can think of. Not a pretty sight. Or smell. Fred was just being, well, a cat.

Fred has his own mind and leaving him around strangers is not his idea of fun.

Mickael Vick will probably get probation, community service and a fine to the Humane Society.

The wealthy with fame never get what they deserve.

I hope I'm wrong.

Fred is like all cats, a devil in cute furry clothing. And this comes from the owner of 2 of them.

Vick will get 18 months, a 2 year suspension from the NFL and be back by 2010. But, I would more likely expect him to be playing in Canada after the suspension.

Well good for Fred- seems he doesn't want everybody to know where he is! He isn't getting lost or leaving yourplace anytime soon-he has it too easy, plus who would let him post on Fridays like you!
Now Vick is anyother story-isn't he getting immunity or something like that! Seems the dogs are still being worked over! now by the legal system!or is it MONEY!

I agree with mommanator. Fred hears all of us bitching about wiretapping, spy satellites etc and he's only following our example.

Fred is simply not down with the Man nor should he be.

Vick will go to jail. He's not admired like O.J. was, and they want to make an "example" of him.

O.J. was more domesticated than Vick.

It sounds as though Fred has had enough of kennel life, and let everybody know about it. We don't have to kennel our three, but when the litter box is half a day overdue for cleaning, they will leave a tart (and smelly) message on the "litter ramp" for me.

We exist by the permission of, and at the convenience of, felines!:)

Oh Fred! He just wasn't sure that it had been cleared by the FISA court or not. You can't blame him!

Glad you are all home together. Good luck for next time.

As for Vick.. I am still just sickened. Between him and his brother his family must be so proud.

Dogs and young girls, what a combo.

vick belongs in a cage.i'm praying for a little instant karma!

as to fred, i've got that beat. we moved my mom into an apartment 2 weeks ago. her cat, a small(about the size of a 6 month kitten)11 year old siamese, wouldn't let anyone near her. we had to go to the house and care for the cat and try to entice her into the carrier.
didn't work, so my sister tried holding her after much pleading and treats, and putting her in her carrier.
my sister has spent the last 2 days in the hospital on i.v. anti-biotics after the little queen bit her in the hand.
i decided enough was enough and got a humane varmint trap from a friend, baited it with a can of cat food and within a few hours, bam, we had her.
she hissed and growled but we got her to my mom's and now you'd never think the cat was anything but a sweetie!
fred was just protesting a bit next to cindy's hissy.

I though football players were above the law. In St. Louis, they seem to be anyway.

We had our dog chipped when she was under anesthesia to get fixed.

Couldn't the vet give him a tranquilizer or something in his water or in a treat...just enough to relax him so he wouldn't fight?

Interestingly enough, the fur twins at my house are exactly the opposite. They become little tazmanian-devil-cats, all claws and teeth and whirling and snarling as you try to get them INTO the cat carrier to the vet, but:

Once there, they become totally limp and almost comotose - and will actually walk back into the carrier without any fuss at all.

I have always attributed it to the same mindset as the parrot who was shoved into the freezer for a few minutes because of his foul language. Upon exit, the bird was a model of propriety, but said:
"may I ask what the turkey said, sir?"

I don't blame Fred for not wanting On Star in him. Will those who believe it is alright to chip pets be as willing to be chipped yourself when the Government requires and demands it?

Good for you Fred, don't let them put a tracking device on you.

As to Vick, he should be sent to Gitmo and have the Military Guard Dogs guard him.

God Bless.

Apparently the Atlanta Humane Society has had an influx of donations of shirts and other memorabilia with Vick's name or number on it. They're using them as rags and as bedding for the animals.

POP it's funny but I would rather pin down an anghry dog than a pissed off cat.
I discussed vick today and a lot of people had input at kos. Someone said he should have gone to a country where it was legal to do it and I can agree with that but it can not be condoned here. I saw that on TV with his shirts being donated to shelters to clean up after them and that is a fitting end.

Hmmm, maybe Michael Vick should spend some time with Fred when he's in his Mr. Hyde mode!

Seriously, I am glad he has admitted his guilt and I hope he gets a lot of jail time AND loses his NFL career. He deserves it all and more.

Heh ... Shayna bit one of the vet techs the last time she was there when the poor girl tried to cut her nails without a muzzle or help.

Shayna lulls people into a false sense of security, she's so sweet about everything, cooperative, but there are certain things she won't cotton to. Nail cutting is one of them, shots are another. Most of them know this but the girl was new and she didn't think to ask.
