I heard a piece on NPR Friday. A woman called in and tearfully reminded us all that, just because some come back alive doesn't mean they are whole. She said her husband is changed beyond repair.
Troops dying for the stupidity and lies of their leaders, is nothing new. That does not take away the honor of their sacrifice. Lets put our money where our mouths are, and pay for better treatment and benefits for the troops and our veterans.
There's no honor in the current batch of deaths and maimings in Iraq. There is only silence and sadness for their families, and rage that more and more of them will die or be maimed in Bush's fraudulent "mission for spreading freedom."
this is a bit backward, but sincere - let some leader help us find some meaning for this war, so our soldiers aren't left with the stain of 'sacrifice for nothing'. and it's great that the country learned at least one thing from Vietnam - that it's crucial to support the troops while also not supporting the war.

Have a great day
I downloaded an old Donovan song "Colours" the other day. The last stanza:
Freedom is a word I rarely use
without thinking
without thinking...
I wish George Bush could say that.

Time- Well put.
Well said PoP. Let us honor the warriors, while despising the war.
Remember, and remember, and remember.

Nicely said, to our troops, may they find a little peace today as we remember and pay honor.

indeed. nicely said. (oneupmanship)
War provides a stage for humans to see what they really are: killers. And capitalism caters for their other major flaw: greed.
War + Greed = Profit (never Peace)
