Ms Goodling’s Day

Did you watch any of Monica Goodling’s testimony yesterday? I watched most of it. And other than her confession that she stepped over the line when she broke the law, that was about all there was to come out of it. Of course breaking the law is kind of a biggie, I would think. But, she added that she “didn’t mean to”. Try that one the next time you get pulled over for speeding. Just explain to the officer that yes, you were speeding, but you didn’t mean to. I’m sure the officer will understand.

The people of Utah should be so damned embarrassed. When it was Utah Republican, Chris Cannon’s, turn to question Ms Goodling, he took the opportunity to read from the newspaper about the comments Representative Murtha’s made to a Republican representative regarding earmarks. He used his entire allotted questioning time to read the article aloud. How’s that for using ones time wisely?

The Democrats asked, for the most part, pertinent questions while the Republicans seemed to want to kiss Ms Goodling’s boo boos and make everything all better. Those mean old Democrats asked questions and expected reasonable answers. Shame on them.

One Republican, and I can’t remember which one it was, apologized to her for her being questioned, since she is a Christian. In so many words he said he feared this was the beginning of things to come.

I don’t know if he is fearful that Christians will be required to take responsibility for their acts or if he is fearful Christians will be required to explain their deeds. But apparently questioning a Christian is not good and it leads to something worse, what that is, I am not quite sure. I suppose he believed that Christians should be immune from questioning.

Thank goodness for live-bloggers - they watch things so I don't have to. They also watch things while I'm at work and can't.

Did I get it right that she tried to tell Gonzo that maybe his testimony was just an ICKLE bit untruthful but he didn't want to listen?

And whats this about she would specifically look for folks who "shared her faith" to give jobs to? Whatever happened to "but no religious Test shall ever be required as a Qualification to any
Office or public Trust under the United States"?

Become a Christian, then you can do no evil. Don't you no that all Christians are good just by being a Christian.

Right now, I wishing for a good old-fashioned Christian BJ. Please Monica!!

The other thing that Ms Goodling testified to is that Tim Griffin (Karl Rove's protege) was caging for the RNC in 2004. Only problem is that the RNC has been under a consent decree since 1986 to not engage in "caging" practices.

I could not believe how the republicans used their time with Monica. Although, it was charming to see how orchestrated their comments were. Hi Karl!

Maybe he thought that young blonde Christian ladies should be treated gently....or was he fearful of the next inquisition?

The whole proceeding made me think of Monty Python...the real question is what will come of this? An Inquisition, an Impeachment or a Flying Circus?

That guy who put his little girl in the microwave was also a Christian. Not only that, his wife is blaming the devil for his actions instead of him, since the devil was just trying to prevent him from becoming a minister. Yeah... makes sense. :-P

I watched a good chunk of it. She put Rove in a room where firings were discussed, but Gonzo at a meeting, exposed Gonzo's attempt to influence her testimony, and left a few other interesting tidbits, but mostly, Paris Hilton Goodling goose-stepped in time.

Don't question God's followers, for they are always correct and moral.

Consider how many in this administration claim to be "religious" people. Then compare their results and behavior to other administrations.

Jimmy Carter's remarks this week are being laughed at, but I think he was right.

Oh Oh, he's a follower of God too.

Maybe I shouldn't trust anyone who believes in an invisible being in the sky?

I prefer my leaders to think within the real world.

You know, I think that was in a recent signing statement.

Unbelievable how we've been hijacked. And yes, clearly it is not okay to question a Christian; but if you're a Jew, Muslim, or anything else, you're hip deep.

NOAA confirms cut in Hurricane Hunter funding
May 19, 2007 - 8:34 PM UTC (subtract 4 hours for EDT)

Over the past week public comments from the new director of the National Hurricane Center criticizing plans to rename his center and accusing his parent agency of wasting millions of dollars on a public relations campaign while cutting vital research funding, were followed by the unexpected departure of two top weather service officials. Now following these public accusations and earlier reports that the new budget contains no money for research flights, NOAA has confirmed that it is cutting funding to the famous 'Hurricane Hunters' based in Tampa, FL.

I suppose, to make a judgment about somebody is stricktly based on whether the son of a bitch happens to be our son of a bitch or theirs.

I recorded the hearing on VOB format, as soon as I convert it to Avi or Mpg4, I'll put it on YouTube.

You hit it right on the head when you said; "The Democrats asked, for the most part, pertinent questions while the Republicans seemed to want to kiss Ms Goodling’s boo boos and make everything all better"

What's the problem with Republicans? Do they not want the truth or what?

Great post!

Just like Bush didn't mean to do blow and drive drunk. This "I didn't mean to" attitude is CLASSIC Bush administration. Then they walk away from the mess they made and someone else has to clean up their dung.

Obviously these "family values" people didn't learn the basics of "clean up after yourself," etc.

It's not their fault though...I know let's blame the gays!!! (rolls eyes).

Or, how dare you question us? We who are the holders of the absolute truth (even when we break the law)

Sheesh. Are christians going to be immune from prosecution at some time based on the fact that they call themselves christians?

Christians, they seem not to have a country of their own.
Where ever you find them, as with most religious obsessives there seems to be delusion and war.
Maybe we should have more lions?
