What about all that name calling?

It’s so damned frustrating to listen to the talking heads who now seem to see and hear what so many of us saw and heard before our country invaded Iraq.

Why has there been an almost four year delay from the time we got the message until they got the same message? During that delay so many people have died needlessly and so much money has been spent on that deadly endeavor.

They can dance around the truth all they like, but we were right and they were dead wrong. Bottom line is that we were not being unpatriotic, we were not being un-American and we were not consorting with the terrorists when we said NO to war. We were being realistic and we were being wise and we were right. Why doesn’t anyone mention this? Why doesn’t anyone say that we weren’t unpatriotic or un-American and we weren’t supporting terrorism? If it was so easy to say we were wrong, why can’t they say now that we were right?

To admit they were wrong would also be an admission of the media's failure to investigate any claims made by the Bush administration that turned out to be out and out lies. They merely hope we have forgotten all that nastiness, or have been distracted by the antiwar victory in the midterms. They are too arrogant to apologize. WE WERE RIGHT AND THEY WERE WRONG!

They will never admit they were wrong.

the unAmerican and unpatriotic ones among us are those who propagated lies to manipulate the public into standing behind this war, those talking heads in the media that compulsively rehashed and gave legitimacy to those lies, and the many, many Americans who still support this criminal president and his unconscionable war (for reasons I simply can't understand).

Although certain people want to hold in account "what they've done" they themselves, who've started this whole mess to the proportion of today, would never admit and hold themselves to those same standards....Go figure, hence, why does anyone ever listen to them and take them seriously???

I say we hold them down until they yell, "Uncle!" I know you are calling in today. I don't even have to ask.

Bush and Co. could solve so many of their problems by just saying three simple words. "We were wrong"

Then we could get our heads together and start fixing the catastrophe they have created.

The firstt steps are to admit the ies, and get rid of the phonies that created this mess.

It's infuriating to listen to these pundits that virtually have enabled this administration to engage in war crimes.

You ask logical questions but these psychopaths don't understand your language, POP. It's so sad that they've created this hornet's nest with no solution in sight. My heart breaks for all the innocent that get caught in the crossfire.

Great post.

Lew nails it. Media is 9/10th of the problem of this adminstration.

Yes, they jumped on the war bandwagon precisely when it became fashionable to do so.

Yes, they demonized anyone who questioned the wisdom of a pre-emptive invasion because it kept them in the Bushies' good graces.

Yes, they asked "Should I swallow?" whenever the Bushies told them to suck it.

And yes, they "stayed the course" in imitation of the Bushies for the longest time, ignoring the blood on their hands and the rot in their souls right up until their complicity in what may be the worst political/military blunder in American history became unfashionable.

But at least they weren't a horde of progressive liberals, huh?! Thank goodness for that!

The media is absolutely culpable in this debacle. They abandoned their responsibility to keep the public informed and became flag waving shills. It is also not in their corporate interest to recognize the good thinking of the patriotic, pro-constitutional left. It wasn't always like this, but this is what it has become. Not only will we not be recognized for knowing that this Iraq war would become a horrific civil war and a blundering act that destabilized the entire region, we will somehow be held responsible for the inevitable defeat.

I find it scary when we "average citizens" are more in clue then our leadership. Unfortunately the people who SHOULD run for leadership are too smart TOO run. Or something like that lol.

we are all guilty. all of us. there were only a few folks in the streets, hardly a whispered voice in congress. they won't say anything now because they are still feeling like they were shamed and punked by bullies. other people stood up to them (like crawford and olberman) but most stood idly by and let it roll on over like a bullshit tsunami.

my truffle contest is up, and officially running. please enter all ya'll.

It's easy to flap your yap.
It's hard to eat your words.
Easy to be judgemental and mean
Hard to be compassionate and tolerant of others.

Someday, people like Rush Limpbaugh and Annie Banannie are going to also have to stand up in front of their Deity and explain why they denigrated the good and peaceful and celebrated the evil and warloving. I wish I could be there to watch their faces.

The thing that irritates me most is that these people have placed us ALL in the same "Lib'rul" box. I know for a fact from reading other of y'all's blogs that although we may agree on some, or even many, things - we also disagree on some. Even if it is only prioritizing or semantics, we aren't all little clones of one another - which is what most of those in that 30% group seem to be.

There was a lot wrong with America 6 years ago - but I'd find great happiness in being able to see the country return to that status - before I die, if it's possible to reverse the terrible damage GWB has done to it.

First, Bushco doesn't believe they are wrong. They have an agenda, and they are sticking to that agenda regardless of facts.

Second, Bushco followed the basic rules of Nazi propoganda: tell the people they're being attacked, and that the pacifists and protesters are unpatriotic. It also helps to control the media.

Third, most people didn't take the Iraq war to heart because there was no draft. The soldiers are all volunteers. Had there been a draft, then people would have been in the streets early, and often.

And last, as long as we are in the throes of a "faith"-based government, with a President who claims he talks to God, we are in really deep shit.

If I said I spoke with God, they'd cart me away. Why doesn't anyone cart Bush away?

PoP, That question in the last line of your post is rhetorical, right? How about, because they're so fucking full of self assurance that they couldn't admit a mistake if their lives depended on it - and couldn't even dream of aadmitting one of some else's does (like in Iraq, f'rinstance).

Bush/Cheney/Rove et al have the mentality of "Everything is a competition, and always play to win", even when they're delusional about their so-called competitions. Every single one of them is a lifelong loser, and has cheated or bought his/her way into power. I have been wondering: Is this the creme de la creme of America? They are the best we can do? They remind me of desperate old guys, buying lottery tickets to try to get a cushy retirement; in that regard, Bush et al have certainly hijacked themselves some loot, without even working for it.
I do NOT accept responsiblity for them, I did everything I could to keep them out of power, but they cheated. It's part of their "corporate" mentality. The rules don't apply to them. There's a guy like that living next door to us; he's a real estate attorney who's been building onto his house for years without permits. Ethics? Shit, if he cheats on his own house, would you even trust him to take out the garbage for you? He finally got caught, but we, as US citizens, have no way of getting Bush et al punished. And this lot's sins have been out in palin sight for years.
I personally know I have been right all along about their venality, but it's not really possible to take much pleasure in seeing it finally being acknowledged. There's too much to be cleaned up, after they've befouled everything...

This post made me think back that movie, Control Room , where Ibrahim, a reporter for al-jazeera, says that "America will stop America."
But I often think if that will be true. Will dissent snowball into real accountability, or will we just get democrats in office and forget about the whole issue like Iran-Contra or even Vietnam?
Then we can repeat the mistakes again in 20+ years

And why was it that some of your best foreign friends were called defitists and white flag wavers? Those friends were humiliated not only by these hawks but also by your dead like a door nail media as well. Maybe we can slowly start rebuilding solidarity again?
