Thoughts from an idle mind

Less than an hour after I posted here yesterday my DSL service went down. I mean big time down. Since Mr. Pop’s lab uses the same service and his was also down, I knew it was a local problem. I called to report it and after listening to what seemed like a zillion recorded messages and hearing a zillion more recorded menu options, the final recording told me they couldn’t connect me to repair and I should call back later.
F-R-U-S-T-R-A-T-I-O-N!

Since I was locked out of cyber-world. I had lots of time to think as I did my household chores and prepared for our holiday trip. Here are a few of my thoughts.

Norah O’Donnell should moderate her laugh. Or better yet, just keep her mouth shut.

Chris Matthews should stop having guests on his show and simply interview himself. His is the only voice you hear when he interviews someone. He talks over his guests. He will ask his guest a question and before they can say anything, he will answer the question. He should stop this aggravating habit. Or better yet, just keep his mouth shut.

I am really sick of hearing about the “battle” between Nancy Pelosi and Deny Hoyer. The press and the Republicans are great at making mountains out of something less than even a molehill.

The white house should keep george bush away from TV cameras for the rest of his term. We have already heard everything he has to say and we’ve heard it over and over. He is looking and sounding even more irrelevant and foolish. It’s not even comedic entertainment anymore. His is probably another mouth that should remain shut.

And finally….

Seems after all this time and all the deaths and all the money, we are now smothered with groups studying the problems in Iraq. We have the original Iraq Study Group led by James Baker. We have the president’s own, just whipped up, study group. And now we have the Pentagon’s own inside study group. After over three and a half years we have three study groups trying to figure out what we should do tomorrow. I guess better late than never is the theory, but what if it’s too late?

***
If you have emailed me during the past couple of weeks, I didn’t get your message. Seems Bellsouth has been doing maintenance on their email and as a result all the email sent to me during this time has gone down some dark well, never to be found again. So if you have sent something, please resend it. Hopefully the problem has been fixed.

My computer is going in today for some “tube work”. I should have it back tonight. But if I don’t , I’ll take this time to wish you all a wonderful Thanksgiving. That wish comes from the whole Pop family, Fred the Cat and Murphy too.

If they'd have set this many Iraq study groups before the war, they may have found there was no reason to invade because Iraq would fall into sectarian violence if we did.

Really, it wouldn't have taken Miss Cleo and the Psychic Friends to see ahead of time how poorly this would turn out.

Not having cable or anything like that hooked up to my TV I am spared of all that.

Boy, did Ann make some really good smoked turkeys. I'm thinking of breaking into her home and stealing one. LOL

Good luck with the computer and connections. I sure wish they would get a DSL line to me. Hugs.

Maybe Bush should get a job at some Chuck E. Cheese outlet. He could pretend to be one of those costumed mechanical animal figures in the cheesy music ensemble that entertains the kids while they're getting high on pizza and caffeine. He's real good at make-believe, so this just might work. I don't know if he can sing worth a damn, tho...

I am totally on board with keeping gwb (I like how you did not capitalize his name) quiet until 01/20/2009. Talking in circles seems only to be fun for him and a few GOP turkeys.

And Mr. POP has a lab? What kind of lab? A meth lab? It made me chuckle for some reason. Don't know why...

I can't stand to listen to those rude, immature boys yelling at and interrupting each other, so I never watch them. I wish they would just give it up and go home.

I kinda like it when W hits the airwaves. Gives me a chance to flip the channel - or to hit the can.

Plus, I still cling to the hope that if his worshipful subjects see him often enough, even the 32% with IQ's lower than the approval ratings will get it: there's a vacuum between the ears.

PoP, we're looking forward to seeing you and Mr PoP on turkey day!

I would just add...Keep Steny Hoyer and Rahm Emanuel away from K Street and tell them to stop bribing incoming Democratic Freshmen...

Not totally related but since you mentioned the overblown so called "flame war" going on between Pelosi and Hoyer (not) I thought I would throw in my 2 cents.

Everyone was so concerned about Murtha's non-taking of a bribe in 1981 but no one seems concerned about Hoyer living his dream of starting a Democratic version of K Street.

I completely agree with you about Chris matthew. He never gives his guests a chance to respond, and he spits when he talks. He definitely needs to STFU and take a deep breath.

About GWB, I am in a state of constant disbelief that he opens his mouth and lets the most innocuous platitudes just fall right out. I am shocked by his stupidity.

Have a great Thanksgiving. I'll be thankful when this administration has packed up and gone back to the ranch for good.

Right back at ya, PoP!

BTW, my DSL is also Bellsouth and is causing serious problems in the Gracie household. They're constantly having problems. My computer had been acting up for months so I finally get thru that nightmare and Bellsouth is down. GRRRRR!

It will be interesting to see what happens with the Iraq Study Group but I'm not feeling hopeful at this point. The boyking has caused enormous problems in Iraq that will take decades to repair if that's even possible.

Enjoy the holiday.

Oh, I think Bush should go out and about and find even more outlandish ethnic outfits to clown around in. There are some wild ones in various parts of Africa...oh, but there's no profit to be gleaned there, no one to outsource to or rip off...

Jim cracked me up with this one... I kinda like it when W hits the airwaves. Gives me a chance to flip the channel - or to hit the can.

That's right ladies and germs...hit the can. That's exactly where all Dub's thoughts (the few he has) should go...into the can with the rest of the floaties!

POP...see you on the other side of Thanksgiving and your football game. May your team win big and make the POP household a happy one. I for one will sit in the corner as the others in Sumoland try to find something to eat since they aren't your normal bird-day eaters. The mother-in-law always runs the show...so I try to do drugs and be anonymous as best I can...or I'd just nut up and start screaming. Because I eat what most normal Americans eat...I am the odd one in this scenario...I never saw it coming...bummer!

Fred,

Panzon here. Any thoughts on how I can get the humans to give me the canine's share of the turkey drippings?

Oh, and my human, she loves your place, and hopes your computer is up and running smoothly. Whenever hers is down she paces the floor waiting for the other human to come home. He's great with all the electronic gadgets, but he knows nothing about auto mechanics. Which, is apparently something that my mom thinks he needs to learn more about. Me? I say, "Hey. No car? No ride to the vet."

Say hi to ND-Anna for me.

Maybe we should just have Matthews, O'Reilly and Dubya all together with something that none of them can agree on. Then just sit back and let the fur fly! Till the first one has a massive coronary. You then ask the two left which one was responsible for the fallen one. Once again, sit back with some popcorn and enjoy the rest of the talk-overs and buck passing! Sooner or later, one will make the other die of horror or boredom. Instant improvement to society!

I've never been able to stand to watch Dubya on the boob tube or even listen to him, except more recently (since the election). It's easier now that his wings are getting clipped, and you gotta love those smashing blue dresses the he had to wear with "pooty-poot". The look on his face = priceless. Can't put it on MasterCard.

Great thoughts you share!

I also think Dumbya needs to be kept away from the TV cameras. if the GOP wants to have even half a chance of winning elections in 2008, it needs to keep its Frankenstein away from the public eye and ear. The more he is seen and heard, the more the public will resent him.

As for the Iraq study groups, I suspect that for the next month or so they will just be studying ways to keep the oil without having to keep too many American troops there. The neocons are probably in a panic, trying to figure out ways to keep their war going before those bad Democrats get into office and try to find ways to end the occupation.

I doubt that anything really substantive will result from Iraq study groups until we have Iraq oversight hearings, and other Democrat-led investigations into the prosecution of the war. Once that happens, I think the American people will be in an uproar... but what will Bush do? Will he listen? CAN he listen?

All that icky stuff aside, have a good Thanksgiving, POP! We're just having lasagna with my mom, here at our house. After Dad's passing she hasn't much energy for producing elaborate meals; I don't blame her, I haven't either. Mrs. Snave and I are making the lasagna today, and Mom is coming over at dinner time with a pie and a salad. With the Snave daughters (ages 18 and 19) here too, we will all have a nice, quiet dinner and spend time together.

Hope you eat plenty and have a relaxing time!
