Lies, Deaths, and Hell

It’s not about Republicans vs. Democrats. It’s not about Conservatives vs. Liberals. It’s really about honest America. The truth is what every American should be fighting for today.

Yesterday the Democrats held a hearing about pre-war intelligence. C-span carried the hearing in it’s entirety early this morning and I became mesmerized by what I heard. Bottom line, it appeared to me, is that our worst fears and thoughts are true. This war was cooked up by the vice president and his neocon friends. I know, I know, we’ve been saying that all along, but now we know that it’s true. The evidence is ample and it stings like hell. Our country, America, is guilty of a deadly crime. I don’t know if laws were broken, although it would seem so, but I do know that an awful lot of people have lost their lives as a result of lies being told by the highest officials of our country. Yes, they knew they were lies at the time they told them.

Forget your party affiliation, forget about flag burning or gay marriage for a moment. Just sit back and think about what has happened to our country over the past five years. If you cuss or if you weep, then you know you see it all for what it has been. It’s all been lies and more lies. We have been pawns in the worst and most deadly chess game our country has ever participated in, in our lifetime.

May the gates of hell open wide and may all those who were involved in this tragic arena of lies and deception walk straight in. They deserve nothing less.

It is more than just the war, and the lies they used to start it. It is the illegal wiretapping. It is snooping through your bank records. It is checking what you do online (guarantee that is happening). Now the President is simply ignoring bills that he signed into law by simply writing a Presidential statement, bypassing Congress and the Constitution. Good morning America--welcome to dictatorship.

It amazes me that so many people just accept this, and we go on with our sheep-like existence as if everything is going to be just fine. But be careful what you wish for; I suspect that we may have already unwittingly opened the gates of hell.

Sadly this is not the first time nor will it be the last time that America has been pushed into some kind of conflict based on half truths and lies...but what is sadder is that most American's seemingly don't care.

And why should they? They have more important things on their minds like voting for an American Idol, or buying a new SUV (gas prices be damned), or checking to see how their stocks are doing...

We get the government we deserve; this is our karma.

Let us, for a moment, reflect on the criteria for impeachment. The constitution says "The President, Vice President and all civil officers of the United States, shall be removed from office on impeachment for, and conviction of, treason, bribery, or other high crimes and misdemeanors" (from Article II. Section 4.) So, what constitutes a high crime or misdemeanor?

Alexander Hamilton, in Federalist Paper # 65, answers the question (ref. http://www.yale.edu/lawweb/avalon/federal/fed65.htm).

Great post. Sadly, the loss of lives continues day to day. I don't know how these men can live with themselves.

AWESOME Patricia!

That is an excellent analysis of the situation.

Most Americans seem to have forgotten what it means to be an American first...all other labels are second.

Really, fantastic!

I would feel like that if I thought the press was doing an even adequate job getting the truth out. When someone with the stature of Mike Wallace can be hounded out of a career for simply reporting the truth, there's something very wrong going on.

Free Press, Valid Elections - Empire does not need or want either.

Hello PoP......I didn't forget the War and the condition of our Nation while away. I handed out buttons to anyone interested in wearing one that told anyone who saw them that this war is a lie and a sham.

Sure wish I could have come home to better news, but such is the way it is.

Good to be back for a few days anyway.

The pain of this is too much to bear sometimes. My mind goes around and around trying to think of what to do aside from protesting on the streets, writing letters, sigining petitions, talking to people about it and blogging. The craziest part of this is that most Americans feel the way I do and our hands are tied. The political thugs have the U.S. in a headlock. We are in big trouble and it's not going to get any better without fair elections. Well done, PoP

That's one of my favorite fantasies - to magically erase party affiliation from politics and force people to think about the issues themselves.

To understand Iraq requires a fundamental understanding of contemporary middle eastern history; some knowledge of the agreements that followed the cessation of hostilities in the spring of 1991, and an attention span. No evidence of any of those things here.

Lies...and more lies...followed by statistics...and then some splendid political parlor tricks, not to mention the hucksterism that is fear and war mongering...slimy rats, all of them.

Its important to realize that the wealthy (powerful) live on a completely different planet and are living according to a completely different set of moral imperatives.
Most people don't want to know about the complete lack of control they have over the evil these people do and over their own lives. Basically most people are existential cowards and will adamantly fight like hell to maintain their ignorance. Keep speaking the truth, pop, some of us can hear it and are encouraged to stay awake.

I may link to this too. It needs to be published as much as possible.

Re your comment. Ray is my husband. He had two fused discs in his neck. The "collar" is a neck brace. Sorry I didn't make that clear. He just got home after a week in hospital.

POP - in my bedrest this week, I finally got time to watch a CNN report that I tivoed on the 19th. It went over the causes and timeline of the war, and pretty much indicted this administration as war criminals, if you took it to the obvious conclusion. I thought it was a very hopeful thing that a mainstream news outlet would stand up and outline the truth.
