So What Does it Mean?

"Abu Musab al-Zarqawi, the most wanted terrorist in Iraq, is dead, according to an aide to Iraq's prime minister."
-from CNN news-

So can our soldiers come home now? Is the war over?
What does this mean in the big picture?

Patricia, although the Bushies will tout this as a grand victory in the "war on terror," for every al-Zarqawi killed, there are literally thousands waiting to take his place. We can't win this war the way it's being fought now.

Probably not much in the large scheme, though there might be some spectacular immediate retaliations...but he was a fringe player prior to being handed stardom on the stage by Bush attacking Iraq.

You can count on the fact that BushCo and the GOP will milk it for whatever they can though.

Laurie took the words right out of my mouth. Someone will step up and fill his position. This is no ticket for our troops to come home. The War Mongerer will not allow that.

What I'm wondering now is if they'll use this momentary boost for their "war on terror" to step up military aggressiveness toward Iran.

Sad, sad, but in the end, it accomplishes nothing, and means less.

These organizations are like hydras--chop off one head, two more grow out of the stump. It will just be another rallying point for insurgents.

Zarqawi's death won't mean a thing as far as what's going on in Iraq. I think millions who watched him personally behead innocent people on TV, will be relieved.

The only thing I see is the stock market going down. This should have been a slightly up day, but the good news has people selling instead following the "buy on bad news, sell on good". Should be some nice bargains available tomorrow. Just another way for the haves to make more money.

he was given up by "his own people". He killed iraqis.. that did not play well with anyone. Sure someone will replace him.. that person will renew the attacks against US forces instead of iraqi civilians.

it means Bush's rating have slipped so much that he was desperate to find something to pull them up. Heard he was in on this from the beginning.

It means a general is dead - no more, no less. But we won't be pulling out the troops anytime soon while we're busy building military "superbases" and the worlds largest US embassy.

Thursday was a great day for the soldiers in Iraq. This is a great deal, finaly the US got him, its a major blow to the Alquida in Iraq. The man is the face of the insurgancey. Cindy Sheehan called him a freedom fighter shows how smart she is. That is for another day.

Sorry if I sound happy Thursday morning was a good to wake up in America.
