It’s just noise

Last week while we were away I kept up very little with politics or the world in general. We watched hardly any TV and only bought one newspaper.

Now we are back home and into our normal routine, and I’ve discovered something. Not only did I not miss a thing last week, but the general talking head noise from our TV is just not healthy. Now it gets on my nerves more than it ever did.

That’s all it is, just noise made by people who have decided their opinions are so important that they want to share them with me and have me agree with them. I not only do not often agree with them, I just don’t need them. I’m an adult who can read so I’ll form my own opinions, thank you very much. Plus, as far as I’m concerned my not so in touch vacation will continue right here at my house. Have at it commentators on TV, no one here is listening and if I do hear you, I just don’t care what you have to say. I’m especially looking at you, Joe Scarborough.

It's just gotten so nuts, with the 'teabaggers', 'birthers' and the pundits on the right, all financed by the insurance industry.

I'm currently without cable TV, so I don't have to watch these guys. It does wonders for the blood pressure.

Haven't had a TV working in my house since the digital turnover. Haven't actually watched more than a handfull of hours of TV in the last 15 years.

You confirm for me - I'm not missing anything at all. Thank you.

BTW, Simply adorable photo of Martini - I kept coming back yesterday just to smile.

I'm burning out on the whole thing, too. KO was the first one I tuned out... everyone else quickly followed.

I would, however, like to see your birth certificate. :)

I'm a total news junkie and have been most of my life. But it has finally gotten to me. The hysteria on the right about having a black president is starting to scare me. The number of people willing to cut off their noses to spite there faces on the healthcare issue is horrifying. I have begun to think we are the world dumbest, and meanest of the large "civilized" nations. What is wrong with us? Birthers, Deathers, and they'd seem to prefer a corporate bean counter between them and their doctor than complete freedom to choose their own doctor and get the treatment needed no matter the cost. Go figure. I have gotten so pissed off at David Gregory that I have given up my addiction to Meet the Press.

moderation, boys and girls. i, too, love Rachel, and her humor spin is very much needed. She's funny - but watch out, smart as a frickin' WHIP!

I watch about 2 evenings a week right now - cuz I value my sanity but I have to keep up with the Dharma Bums.

I haven't been watching them either. I am too fed up with everything. I haven't even been watching Rachel or Olbermann. I just can't deal with the lunacy anymore. Haven't given up on Jon Stewart and Colbert though.
