Like a Breath of Fresh Air

Wasn’t that refreshing and welcomed yesterday to see our President appearing before an audience in Indiana that was not prescreened, taking questions that were not pre-scripted and from real people just like you and me?

I know the Republicans are desperate to appear relevant but do they really want to fight the President all the way on this stimulus/spending bill? I’m not sure the people of the United States have the stomach for political games right now. Plus, if the bill works and Americans regain their sense of job security, won’t the Republicans look peevish and childish for all of their blustering?

Yeah, I watched a whole presidential press conference and did not want to throw something at the screen once, either at the president or the press. That will take some getting used to.

I'm afraid it's far too late for that - they already do.

Don't forget the Dems for caving to their whining. And the goopers won't care because they know they can regain power in the future.

Now if he could shame the networks and cable into hosting as many sane, rational, Dem spokespersons as they do batshit crazy Republicans (it is at least 2 to 1 Republican now) his message might start to resonate with even more people. As it is, about 76% support the stimulus bill although you sure wouldn't know it from television coverage. The Republicans - and the corporate media - don't care what happens to the economy in this country. They hope it crashes around Obama's (and consequently, our) ears so that they can campaign on 'his' failures in 2010 and 2012. Reprehensible people.

I haven't had time to watch the press conference. I was at school Monday night and my husband DVRed it. But from everything I have heard, he was a breath of fresh air.

But since I live in the middle of the right wingers, let me tell you, there are many many people who think he is trying to give away the store and can't understand why he doesn't just cut taxes. :-( Morons are alive and they vote and reproduce.

You mean they don't already?
