Tit for Tat, a waste

The Republicans were like children at a free cupcake party when the MoveOn ad came out asking if the General was going to betray us. A whole bunch of the them grabbed copies of the ad and searched for a camera that was rolling. Then they wasted time and money to be sure the ad was condemned. Many Democrats joined in the choir singing, We’re so freakin’ appalled that we can’t get our breath.

Now we have the comments by Rush Limbaugh. Many Democrats are now at their own free cupcake party. They want something done about Limbaugh. They want their tat for the Republican’s tit. I refuse to give that worthless bastard that much power. He’s a radio talk show host, nothing else.

How about everyone forget this sort of gotcha behavior and concentrate on what really counts. How about we ignore those tit for tat arguments and instead join forces to get our country back. Let’s all enjoy free speech and respect one another’s right to it. If the soldiers and vets want to go after Rush, let them go at him with all they have. I think our time would be better spent working to see that our soldiers get to come home and stay there.

Good point.

All this has done is take the focus away from Bush's war, and inflate Limbaugh's ratings.

I agree PoP. These childish games aren't getting us anywhere. Time to get serious about trying to restore the country.

I agree to a point. The whole situation is completely childish to anyone with a working brain. The problem is that the noise machine hasn't been sufficiently challenged since it started decades ago. "Oh, they're just loons." Loons who run pretty much everything because the Dems want to the right thing, the way most of us were raised. You know, don't be an asshole. I'm sure I'm in the minority on this, but c'est la vie. :)

I can't see the Dems doing anything but rolling over on any bring-the-troops home arguments. They haven't shown spine for 6+ years - aside from this, in the grand scheme of things, pointless exercise - why would they start now?

It is exhausting but necessary to keep up resistance.Organize your neighbors, friends , fellow workers so when the moment presents itself you are ready. But spend a little time dancing as well.

Absolutely agree, PoP. Let the soldiers take on Rush and let our representatives do their job. The last thing I want is for Democrats to take on the Republican tactics.

Hear, hear. To give Limbaugh's over inflated ego any more fuel would be a sin.

The Republicans have been very successful getting elected but not so when trying to govern. Why is that, I asked myself, and came up with a sort of an answer.

Republicans seem to always dictate what the items under the discussion are and continually side-track the Democrats off their message and pull them down to the silliest and to the most irrelevant issues instead. And we all know how magnificent the lads on the right are with the non relevant political issues, don't we? You just can't beat them in that game and if you don't believe me, ask John Kerry.

John Kerry never fought back the way he should have, though. The second the Swift Boat garbage hit, he should have been out there with guns blazing. Pandering to emotions is what works. That's how a party whose ideas are an anathema to anyone not evil and never work in the real world get elected time and time again.

The Democrats policy wonk things to death and always take the high road. You can appeal to emotions, be aggressive about it and still be on the side of good, with the facts backing you up.

I'm with Neiwert on this. Rush and his ilk may seem like only idiotic blowhards to us, but if they're never challenged by anyone other than partisan 527s, then we're in more trouble than we think.

I agree that enough is enough is enough already, but I'm not one to personally run from an attack, so I can fully understand the "phony vets" (jeebus... THAT coming from a guy who sat out Vietnam due to a boil on his rotund ass!) being r-e-a-l-l-y pissed off and wanting to blast back.
And sadly, if Dems don't support those vets, some might say they risk being labeled as "anti-troops" and weak (as John Kerry's character assassination taught us.)

Normally, I'd agree with you, but I like the idea of making Republicans squirm when confronted with right-wing loonies who hate the troops.

Excellent point, PoP. The GOPers are most skilled at using phony issues to detract attention from the thousands of dead troops and millions of US citizens without health care.

Sorry, but I have to disagree. Rush and his ilk are bullies that need to be punched in the nose! (metaphorically)
While it does seem childish, the GOP has been getting away with this kind of nonsense unchallenged for too long!
Why do you think so many independents are so easily swayed by the "Democrats are wimps" mantra? Because people like Kerry didn't stand up to liars like Rush!

Hi PoP: Well, I heard the condemnation of the MoveOn ad was the only thing the senate was able to pass last week, so maybe we should stop and give thanks to distractions that give our government a sense of accomplishment while the nation goes totally to hell?

I don't give a crap what Limp B said. The Congress critters tsk tsking MoveOn, on the other hand, that was simply as proto-fascist as one could possibly imagine.

MoveOn.org laid out empirical facts and used a bit of sardonic phrasing to call on PEOPLE to start obeying our own country's laws. But, since there WAS NO MONEY IN IT FOR THE RICHEST CAMPAIGN CONTRIBUTORS (not to mention the Stock Market) Congress took it as an insult, instead of as the constructive criticism it emphatically was.

Rush can spew all the hate and greed he wants. The people agreeing with him, whether just folk like us or Critters in the Domes of Power, are the ones who need to be reasoned with and shown the reality of the situation in these United States. Then the audience for such crud will reduce itself naturally.

I am OUTRAGED at all the outrage that is outraging all the other outrages out there.
It's coming to a point where words like "outrage" and "offended" will suffer the loss of intensity to their meaning and we will all have to resort to fisticuffs. It's ALL part of the dumbing-down process.
What ever happened to "sticks & stones..."?

Someone mentioned it earlier... these type of situations simply give the Rush Limbaughs of the world a push in the ratings. It won't change who they are, how they think or what their intentions are.

When it comes down to it, whatever side you are on, the best way to deal with people that make inflammatory statements to focus attention on themselves, is to symbollically kick them where it hurts:

ignore them.

Eventually, they will join the rest of the lint in your pocket and understand their significance.
