Why shouldn’t Speaker Pelosi visit?

Speaker of the House, Nancy Pelosi, is visiting Israel and Syria. The white house is all pissy about her trip. Not so long ago Senator Nelson of Florida made a trip to Syria and I believe Senator Dodd did as well. Seems to me there have been others. So why is Pelosi’s trip so bothersome to the administration? Why did they ask her not to go? Are they afraid she might be able to make some positive accomplishments?

It's obvious that gw doesn't mind when the repubs go anywhere, cause they follow him, regardless.

Anyone who can speak and articulate without fear tactics, well, that's a whole new ballgame and might scare him a bit, since it's out of his league, and something he obviously can't do at all. ; (

Because, you know, Diplomacy is a sign of weakness. War, death, and destruction are tools of power.

Do it my way! There is only one way, my way. No talking.

NOW, Give me your lunch money before I turn you into hamburger you whiny liberal commie.

Absolutely PoP. Bush's failed foreign policy is out there for everyone to see day after day. Actually rolling up your sleeves and engaging in real diplomacy is out of the question especially if you are a Democrat.

Nancy said the words that scare Bushies the most: We are here to get the facts. I think it's important to be informed.

It's those darn facts that cause Bush the most trouble because verything he does is based on lies.

The Reichwing reaction to repubs going? (crickets) Pelosi going with a bi-partisan group? Faux outrage.

hmmmm....fact-finding missions must be very threatening to those who do not wish for the facts to be known. unless, of course, they get to be in charge of fabricating the facts themselves. hopefully those days are long gone for bush & co.

Nancy Pelosi is a tremendous thorn in the Bush Administration's side. She is there to seek truth, she is there to try to negotiate a path toward sanity. Bush, on the other hand, would prefer the Middle East blow up in flames because it would bring us one step closer to The Rapture.

Coffee Messiah, when you do your interview, don't be nervous, just be truthful.

Pelosi might express to the world a certain smart reasonableness about things. That is absolutely forbidden by the white house. She will undermine their concerted effort to be 100% ignorant about everything all the time.

Their first pick was McCain and a couple of aircraft carriers.

Pelosi, they hear, favors diplomacy.

I t hink it is important for our reps to visit with foreign leaders, especially the ones that we are most closely tied into right now.

i'd be scared if i were 43, too. his failure turned into a complete defeat at the hands of the speaker would just be too much to handle without the drink.
frankly, the fact he's given up completely on...oh, let's say feeding the hungry in the country or ensuring tensions between the groups didn't flair shows why we're failing.

Of course, they're afraid. Also, it's a chance to sling some mud on her. Wouldn't want to miss an opportunity like that, see?

Pelosi should be there. After six years of Bush the world needs to see a human face representing the US.

Chimpletons can't very well talk up the successes of their beloved monkey Messiah, so the talking points will have to be of the personal-destruction type.

It is sad that all these hysterical Chimpletons cannot point to even one success that their simian Lord can claim. What a bunch of pathetic, moronic losers.

Bush is working on his Legacy! The Uber-Idiot of All History. Hopefully it is creating an opening for left-wing radical politics because Pelosi needs a little work on her Palestinian position.

I don't know how Pelosi needs work on her "Palestinian position." That seems like an odd thing to say. I am a liberal, but I don't fall into the trap of having knee-jerk support for anything/anyone who hates Israel. There is much more to the situation there than what one can read on Kos or by going to a college anti-Israel rally.

That is not what I intended to comment on. What I was going to point out is that most of us lefties have been thinking (admit it, you though it too) that Bush's Middle East policy is somehow designed to benefit Israel. The Israelis don't think so, and it was the Israeli PM who asked Pelosi to go to Syria to deliver a message for peace (source).

Just as we warn those on the right not to let their opinions get in the way of facts, some on the left are equally as guilty when it comes to Israel. If you were looking to Nancy Pelosi to suddenly embrace Hamas and condemn Israel, you are no doubt going to continue to be disappointed.

Given that a Republican delegation was in Syria last week, I think they're just upset that Speaker Pelosi might take an actual Air Force plane bigger than the one she "demanded" to get there.

I am embarrassed each time I see GB on television. How could we have elected such a really stupid man? All he can do is threaten other countries. Is that because he really cannot speak intelligently as in nukleer?
