The One Person in the Way

While the president ponders all kinds of “new” ways to save his name in the history books to come, soldiers and hundreds of Iraqis continue to die. There is no timeout while he figures out a “way forward” or a "victory” or a “success” in Iraq. There’s no halting and waiting for him to find his excuse or his lie. On average this month, four soldiers and about one hundred Iraqis, at least those we’ve been told about, have been killed each day.

We don’t have time for this bullshit. It’s been almost four years since this sin began and if they haven’t found the answer by now, it’s not out there. They can consult with every damned person they like, but bottom line is there is no “silver bullet”. There is no magic formula. The only hope for success in any respect is convincing the freakin’ “decider” that our troops’ lives are worth a hell of a lot more than his legacy. His legacy is as dead as our troops who return home in wooden boxes. He is the only thing standing between our troops lives and their deaths. He is the only one who can bring our troops home. He’s the only person standing in the way.

As I recall, this fiasco was supposed to be quick and clean, as in "I doubt six months." The sane among us, have seen enough, and it's time to just get out. BTW, the word police, the ones who insist that it isn't a civil war, have determined that the boxes that the dead soldiers are returned home in are to be called transfer tubes.

Unless someone takes him and Cheney out, we'll be waiting for another 2 years for this mess to be over or even begin to start to get better.

"Success" and "victory" can never be attained in Iraq because the reasons we originally went in there were all lies. We went in because of non-existent WMD, ties with alQaeda and links to 9/11. Throwing catchphrases like "the way forward" at it isn't going to change the fact that Bush went in there with no clear objectives and no viable exit strategy.

Can't remember "where" I saw it this morning, but there was a story about "Bakers" tie to Oil
and the investing in Iraqs oil ; (
If we get out sooner than 2 yrs, I'd be surprised. ; (

Looks like the only part of the ISG report that Bush likes is the motto "New Way Forward" he is going to use this phrase from now on out to describe his failure. Meanwhile the world watches as 60+ more Iraqis die this morning while he dithers around. A tragedy.

Impeachment would take care of him. We would have to impeach Cheney at the same time. No problem, there's plenty of evidence against him too.

Legacy my ass. His legacy will be, and is, The.Worst.President.Ever. And he's not attended ONE funeral of a US soldier killed in his illegal war. Not one.
BTW, if you want a laugh, stop by my "other" blog, where I really cut loose.

His legacy has already been written. He can diddle with himself all he wants...but he WILL be known as the president who sacrificed hundreds of thousands of human lives for hubris and power.

Let's keep the pressure on our newly elected Congress to circumvent his illegitimate power...just shove his ass out of the way.

All this posturing looking like he is trying to listen and gain a consensus is a huge waste of time. When all is said and done I'm sure his solution will be a slightly modified version of "stay the course". Shameful. Let's hope impeachment becomes a politically viable option.

Different mantra, same failed policies that will cause the deaths of fellow brothers and sisters in green. To do other wise, would mean having to admit to being wrong! We all know that the boy king would NEVER do that. I come to hate that bastard more each day. I made some more signs to put up last night at work. the newest one says: "Liberty OR Death".

Can't wait to hang that one up.

He's going to continue this war to save face. Imagine that. He's wondering about his legacy while people are being torn apart by bombs. If there is a groundswell for impeachment that comes straight from the people, it will catch on. I believe we've had enough of this, and so has the entire world.

I think we need to trick him into believing that Barney is the one telling him to call this war a wrap and get the hell out. I really think that if somehow he can be convinced that leaving the mess for the next president to clean up will hurt his legacy either way (If they can't do it, it's his fault; if they can do it, it's his fault for not being able to) might spur him to action -- if there is any semblance of rationality left in that empty skull of his.

What I keep wondering is once he's out of office and builds his boondoggle of a Prezit Library, WHO's gonna bother to re-write all that History extolling the virtues and *accomplishments* of this Has-Been LUSER?

Right now some wing-nut folks are still sucking up to the last vestiges of the power he retains by being in office, but who's going to want to own this on into the future? The long-Knives will come out and carve his legacy into bits soon enough.

Meanwhile, 63 more have been killed by a car bomb earlier today in Iraq.

The boyking is an "iceman" incapable of understanding the horror HIS war has caused to millions of people directly or indirectly. It's reached the point I can't watch him anymore with feeling the need to projectile vomit.

So beautifully said and sad.
I really cannot stand this continual, perpetual war. I cannot stand the chicken hawks on the television blathering on and on about how the terrorists will follow us home if we leave. Like they will all just pack up their bags and land on US soil. It is so ridiculous, such a lie, and all so they can play their games, make their money and kill and torture people. This should be illegal. All wars should be illegal. All aggressors should be criminally charged. That would put an end to all of this, this has got to stop.

Being an entertainer, once I had to read a Greek play about how all the women cut off all the men until they put an end to war. It was written by somebody named Aristophanes or something like that. But when you think about people like Laura Bush, who really needs a good hairdresser, or Lynne Cheney, who writes potboiler, breastbeating novels, I doubt they are bearing anyone's children anymore, so I don't think that would work.

The only "way forward" is the way forward HOME!!

And Bush's only "way forward" should be to jail!!

Lola, that was "Lysistrata", but you're right, sex has no part in this bunch's lives. Cheney and Bush use bloodshed and war profiteering to get their rocks off.
It's the ultimate perversion.

You're right PoP

we don't have time for his bullshit.

The thing is Bush NEVER wants to leave Iraq. He's stalling. He'll stall until he leaves office unless he's removed first.

We need to get out now.

How do we go about organizing a mass protest on the national level that doesn't involve raising and payiing lots of cash?

There's got to be some sort of collective conscious movement where we all just take to the streets on the same day at the same time and demand we get out of Iraq now.

First of all to remove a cancer thats growing in America under Der Fuehrer Bush you have too cut it out. Though I doubt that Der Fuehrer will let us operate on him.

Next you have too treat it with both chemo and radiation. Like treating Der Fuehrer with polonium-210 and in less than three weeks time all the cancer will be dead.

Then and only then will we be able too leave Iraq or take our country back.

Don't forget Herr Goebell Cheney or Condi Braun Rice, they too will have too be treated for there cancer.

One can pray, can't one?

God Bless.

I am sure, that the great leader is taking everything into his consideration. That's providing, it's condusive in enhanching his historical legacy. He plays crazy chess game now in which various pawns are expendable for the greater cause, which is to save the king. It could also be, that these hundreds of thousands of victims of his are considered to be just a part of doing business. Canceled cheques, if you will.

Bush IS the only thing standing in the way of getting us out of Iraq. And as Polishifter suggests, Bush will hang on like a bloody tick. There is just too much money in it for him and all his friends who contributed to his campaigns. I can't wait to see Halliburton investigated... to find out more about all the no-bid contracts... to find out where the missing billions of dollars have gone (whose pockets those billions are in), to find out more about the administration's pre-war antics. It will be good to know more about what has happened. I also think that once so much has been revealed, most Republicans will also want to impeach Dumbya... it won't just be the Dems who want to see him gone!
