No Humor in Right-ville

Why is it that bush’s base zombies can’t laugh? They have no sense of humor. Okay, they watch Fox News and they still don’t laugh? Come on, there’s funny stuff on that channel and I shall point to Bill O’Reilly as my shining example. Bill’s a joke that always brings down the house, but they don’t even snicker at him. Don’t they get it? Don’t they see that the pompous ass is only an act for our entertainment? I think the Conservatives actually believe everything he says. That’s pitiful.

Then there’s the show that I truly heart. The Colbert Report is as good as it gets. He’s portraying a staunch-assed Conservative and he does it up right. That in itself is funny and he’s a funny guy. The guy has it nailed.

Why isn’t there a TV comedy news show where someone portrays a staunch-assed Liberal? I’ll tell you why, it’s because it would flop. The Right wouldn't be able to laugh at it, they wouldn't understand the humor.

I want to hear some laughing from the Right side of this country. They control our entire government, so I would expect them to be jumping up and down and laughing with glee. They aren’t. Why not? I’m telling you they have no, I mean no, sense of humor. They just have no ability to see things in a funny way.

Recently Rove has directed his worker bees to use the word “angry” after the name of every single solitary person who can in any way be connected with the Left. Hillary is angry. Liberals are angry. Due to recent events, in private Karl probably accuses God of being a little pissed too. Karl wants to paint us all as angry people. Well, Karl my man, we are angry and damned do we have good reasons. But, we can laugh. We can laugh and sometimes buddy, we laugh at you.

Yeah sure, sometimes we laugh to keep from slitting our own throat, but shit it works and it keeps us from going nuts. Conservatives on the other hand can’t laugh and that may be why some of them are nuts.

Ya, Rove is a little "brittle" himself...

Funny 'ha-ha,' or funny 'I don't wanna slit my throat'?

I think sense of humor is strictly a human trait.

I'm angry... I'm angry that Rove still has a job and still has influence with King Dbya/Dubai.

Just started a petition asking Russ Feingold to run for Pres in 08. It's located at http://russfeingoldpetition.blogspot.com/. Peace.

Hello PoP:

You bet I'm angry. Is the Network credo, "I'm mad as hell and I'm not going to take it anymore," becoming a part of our current lives? While the Rep's are trying their best to paint non-Rep's into an "angry" corner for a new code word, I just wish some leading Dem's or Indy's would speak out forcibly and somehow channel all this real anger about BushCo. Only Al Gore and Bill Moyers have tried to bring a voice to this mess, and we saw how quickly they were marginalized by not only the Rovians but by the press, too.

On my post yesterday I tried to list all the screw-ups from this administration calling my post, Chinese Water Torture. I couldn't list all of the "drips" of screw-ups in the past five years.

I'm enjoying your blog as well as your participation on CL.

Bill O'Reilly is a delight. The gift that keeps on giving. We lefty bloggers would be much poorer in a world without ol "Clown Shoes".

Pissed Off Patricia,

glad I found you again...Guess I missed something on your leaving blondsense.

Conservatives are angry people. The last 5 years prove that. The last 5 years have been a right wingers wet dream if they were allowed to have such things.

They got the Executive, Congress, and now Judiciary. They should be celebrated and laughing, even throwing liberals a few bones.

But they can't because all they know how to do is be angry.

I love Steven Colbert. His humor is tongue in cheek. I find it hilarious that many people on the right consider him a staunch conservative and invite him to speak at their events.

They don't laugh at Steven, they nod with approval.

They really should laugh more. Esepcially with clowns like O'Loofa, Hannity, Malkin, Limbaugh, and Coulter controling their talking points.

Actually they do laugh some times...They laugh when they stick it to democrats. These numb nuts have not figured out yet when they stick it to democrats they are ultimately sticking it to themselves.

All I've ever noticed about right wing "humor" is that it tends to be of the "3 stooges" giggle over the pain of someone else quality without the stooges charm.

They seem to enjoy heartless happenings. I think they have a mean streak that they try to hide. That's one of the big differences I see in the two sides, we can laugh at ourselves and they take themselves way too seriously.

Patricia,

On average, I'd say you're right on. Dems can usually make and take jokes way better than Repugs.

(You're the third person who brought up the privacy thing about the petition, so I changed it. My email is mojavecallon@aol.com if you want to send an email I'll include when I mail on Friday, but I also changed the petition so people can just leave their 1st name and state-no need for last names or cities since it's just for him. (If you click on anonymous before you post, no one will even know it's you, just a Patricia... I put my name everywhere. I'm zealous like that, which will probably bite me in the butt one day. Kudos to those who know better.)

Hope all is well.

Peace.

Thanks Kat. I learned a few years ago that some on the Right get pretty bizarre if I write something they don't like. I have gotten some scary emails and it just makes me be safe cause I don't want to be sorry. I'll send you an email tomorrow that you can add to your private list.

"Why is it that bush’s base zombies can’t laugh?" au contraire - they are laughing at us, not with us - there's a big difference. One is done behind closed doors.

Nope, never had a morning martini.
But some mornings when I turn on the news and hear about more dead people in Iraq, it is tempting to have one and go back to bed.

You're right...Who needs a morning martini when you can flip on Fox News and get just as sick to your stomach listening to those paid media whores.
