Cheap Thrills Weekend
You know those times that just make you smile. Maybe it’s the sound of you child laughing. Maybe it’s getting to the check out aisle and finding no one ahead of you. Perhaps it’s seeing the careless driver who just sped around you getting pulled by the police. For me it’s the sight of my little dog curled up and soundly sleeping in his bed. Another is the first sign of flowering on my gardenia bush. What’s yours? What are those little things that always bring a smile to your face?

PoP,
For me, it's seeing all three of my cats curled up together on my bed. Also the sight of all the birds that come to my feeders in my front yard....especially woodpeckers.
The sight of my neighbor tangled in the garden hose and stepping on the rake... it gets me every time!
My doggies snoozing on my bed do it every time. Also when a guy checks me out and looks straight in my eyes like he'd love to....um. You know ;)
Oh, so many things make me smile - coming here and reading all the things that make others smile works well. It's those little inner hums that smooth out the inner ruffles.
I know what you mean Mary, I read what others enjoy and it makes me smile too.
Seems we all have some smiles in common.
Seeing my 12 yr old first thing in the morning with his hair straight up on one side. Stretching and yawning.
BTW POP do you know of anything interesting but not too touristy to do in the Ft. Lauderdale area? We are escaping the snow in New England for vacation week.
If I were you bowman, I would visit their website. You could begin here

Be sure to check out the beach cam.
I haven't been to Lauderdale in ages. I know it's trying to be a little Miami. All towns south of me are growing like crazy. Might ask Rich, he lives closer to Fort L. than I do and he might have some ideas for you.
Thanks,
I didn't know if you were anywhere near there. Basking in the sun with a good book will do it for me.
I'm going to go make a bologney sandwich to eat on the plane.
Ditto bowman, minus the bologney sandwich. Sun, book, surf, sand, lunch, repeat steps one thru four, cocktails, dinner, walk on the beach, gaze at the stars and call it a day. My kind of holiday.
My son and grandson playing together until they get too rowdy and I have to tell the "children" to take it outside.
The cats are curled up giving lessons in how to nap.
Hearing "A Whiter Shade of Pale" on the radio as I pull into the driveway. For some reason I can't turn off the car and get out until it is over.
Uncorking a nice bottle of wine in the evening, pouring myself a glass, and settling back on my comfy couch in my pjs to listen to CDs, with the knowledge that I'm done with everything for the day!
*looks around*
Nice blog!
D'oh, sorry, the above comment was me!
*waves*
the dog. definitely the dog. never fails.
Sunrises, the smiling faces of my children as they come off the school bus ready to tell me about their days, and sunsets.
Bowman C, if you tire of the book, you can always take a day trip down Highway A1A to North Haulover Beach and mingle with the "nontraditionalists" from Europe and the US. I have friends who enjoy the atmosphere, but I haven't been there myself - yet. :-)
Haulover Beach.
What makes me smile? Many things -- but today it was Earl.
aikane,
Thanks for the tip on the beach, but I think I'll pass. The kids think it is gross.
Mrs DBK, asleep on the sofa in front of the TV.
Birds at our feeder when there is snow on the ground.
Seeing my housemate after he's been gone for a long while.
