First Bush Veto?

Bush says he will veto any bill that tries to halt the port deal.

So would he use his veto for the very first time to kill a bill that tries to protect homeland security?

Veto anything that tries to HALT the port deal!? Is he insane? (Uh...ok maybe I should really ask that.)

But seriously, this would be an excellent opportunity for Congress to show Bush who's boss. Demolicans and Republocrats can get together on this one, as it's just bad bad policy.

"There's an old saying and it seems to apply here. The shoemaker's children go barefoot." I saw your quote at Tenn.G. and figured I'd check out your digs. Excellent analogy. I see you know Kvatch!

This whole scenario is predictably ridiculous.

kvatch, love the graphic, and the cartoon it came from. I would like to think Congress has the nuts to do what you suggested, but with Dennis the Fat Bastard getting on board the Bush train, Rove twisting arms behind the scene, and can the Repub whip be far behind, you'll see the Bush suckups jump on board and kill any thought of a veto busting vote. Just a prediction, but let's see if I'm right.

I heard that Hastert isn't on board. He's all pissy about it too. Maybe the arms are tired of being twisted.

Thank you so much for dropping by, Lily. Drop in anytime you're in the cyberhood.

In hindsight, you could have told that on election night, 2000.....

(Sigh.......)

One thing I have come to think about the Bushcos is that whenever they throw this kind of garbage out to the masses, they are doing something else behind the scenes that they don't want us to know about. This is so far fetched, that it smells like somethings up.

Just a tad ironic, ain't it?

Same old hypocrisy from the Bushites, except this time they forgot that their "true believers" actually bought their anti-terrorist rhetoric, i.e., the "blow'em all up, let God sort'em out" mentality they created following 9/11.

So they turned Iraq, with no 9/11 involvement, into a hell on earth, while ignoring states with terrorist connections. What else is new for them?

Still, it's all about winning elections, so I expect Republicans, once again, to work it out. So long as they control Washington, they call the shots. Their shifting positions on Homeland Security, Social Security, Patriot Act, health care, prisoner torture, etc., don't seem to matter to the public.

Remember, if the ter'ists don't get'cha, the queers and "liberals" will.
