Someone very Special to me
He has taught me how to calm down when I would too often get hot under the collar.
He has taught me to choose my battles wisely.
He has taught me to appreciate Mother Nature even more than I already did.
He has taught me that together we can get through anything.
He has taught me to laugh just as much as I can.
He has made me to feel safe and secure when I thought I couldn’t
He has come to my aid when I needed help most.
He understands my weaknesses and accepts me for who I am.
And best of all he has made me feel sincerely loved and valued for the first time in my life.
Twenty one years ago today I said, “I do”, to him. And now, twenty one years later, I would do it all over again. I love you Mr. Pop!

What a lovely post. It is a beautiful thing indeed to find someone like this and I have every confidence that I will write some such post on 4/28/28 when Mr He Is and I find ourselves at the 21 year mark.

Congratulations. In the age of disposable marriage that is a remarkable milestone. Our marital odometer will flip over to 26 years in about three weeks. Keeping with your theme, she taught me to shut up and take out the garbage.
I will share a really bad poem that she commissioned me to write for our 24th. It is based on a morning in our favorite get away place.
spider’s jewel
there are moments,
very few,
when we live
within the moment,
without wishes
or regrets.
at dawn the fog
lies in milky lakes
above the valleys.
beneath the eave
a cob web sags with
drops of dew.
we do not expect
today’s sky will
hold more blue than just
one day can hold.
nor do we consider
that the peaks will
have turned one day
more golden.
we know only
the warmth of this hearth,
and the smell of smoke.
music from the radio
weaves the space
between us, embroidered
with the pop and growl
of the fire.
and for this moment
all the world, all its
large and loud,
is distilled to a hemlock,
bathed in morning light,
captured in a web-strung
pearl of dew.
