Shopping Local is Better
Last Friday the security company finished up the security installation. When it’s armed, if any window or door is opened or broken, the alarm goes off. Then the monitor station calls here to see if we need police, firemen or both. The keypad tells us which part of the house has been disturbed.
Much to the astonishment of both Mr. Pop and me, I remembered to disarm the system before taking Martini out last Saturday morning. I did not cause a false alarm and so far so good, I still haven’t.
We did realize we needed another keypad in our bedroom. The first one is beside the kitchen door that we most often use when leaving in the car via the garage. So the company came back yesterday to install the second keypad. We were told in advance the second keypad would cost $200.00. When the installation was complete yesterday, I asked the installer if he could bill us because Mr. Pop had our checkbook with him. The installer said there would be no charge for the second keypad. I said, “No, we owe you $200.00.” He said, “No, there is no charge”. I said, “Is this an early Christmas present from your company?” He said, “Yes”.
Wow, a company gave us a break. I didn’t know that sort of thing happened anymore. Maybe that’s the beauty of doing business with a local company that has been in business for thirty years and has an excellent reputation. It just reinforces my feeling that if you can, shop at home from local merchants.

Sounds like you made the right choice for a security company. Now that you are living in a fortress when does Martini get is leather collar with the metal spikes?
congratulations on not having the ambulance, hook & ladder truck and police squad show up for your and Martini's morning walk. good goin.
