Sunday Visitor

Sunday afternoon we looked out our kitchen window to see this little opossum looking back at us from the Areca Palm that’s just outside our privacy fence. (top photo) Now I guess now we should call it our semi-privacy fence. He was working his way to the fruit on the palm. (bottom photo) So we had a Sunday visitor who came for dinner.

Thank goodness for the entertainment of nature. These days with all the mental strife and uncertainty, were it not for nature, I’m fairly sure I would lose my mind.

Looks like he is this years brood. I get the occasional family around here mostly cleaning up what the squirrels and birds leave behind. If it wasn't for the nature that goes on in my little habitat I would probably be crazy as well.

He's checking out where he's going to hang his hat after we all off ourselves through some human-only strain of some bioweapon.

O My Dog, Possums FREAK me out!

Ever since one time I was visiting Portland OR. I got all buzzed at my friend's house and when I went to get in my car to drive back to the hotel there was a frikkin possum in it.

They are much bigger and less cute when they are in your car versus a tree lemme tell you.

I got to know a whole family of possums quite well when I lived in KC. 4 or 5 moved _into_ my house.
I asked for it -- I had set up my back yard as a wildlife refuge. still, when the possums and a raccoon moved in, I drew the line.
had a heckuva time getting them all out and, finally, had to move the possums to a park across town. :(

I think the fact that they're cute eplains why they throw themselves in front of cars all the time. They just can't live with their own cuteness.

Awww - I wonder what he was doing out during the day?

At our old house there was a magnolia tree and sometimes at night we'd see a mama possum with her babies clinging to her back - kind of cute. In a godawful way.

What does Fred think about it?
