Fred the Cat’s new assignment
I know by now you guys have heard what happened at the Pop house this week. Mr. Pop and Pop have been pretty quiet. They’re sad. I’m sad too, but I, Fred the Cat, have a new job to do. I must assume the responsibility of being the new four pawed, man of the house. I have moved up in seniority.
It is my responsibility to take care of anyone weeping. I must love them, allow tears to fall on my fur, and most importantly, I must listen to what they have to say. I think I’ll be good at the job, after all, I learned from the best, Murphy. He knew just how to do these things and he was the king of compassion.
I’m gonna miss the little dude. I used to run up to him and smooch him right on his snowy white fur. It was such fun for me, didn’t seem to be as much fun for him though. But let’s remember, he was a canine. Canines have their own sense of humor most of the time.
So I accept my new responsibility with honor. I’m fired up! Ready to go! Can I bring happiness back to our home? Yes I can!
Have a wonderful weekend and hug your buddies every single day.
Sincerely,
Fred the Cat (the cat who loves you guys)

That's right, Fred, you're needed more than ever now. Keep an eye on the POPs, you know how they get. Heh ...
Fred- you are so great! What a trooper!
You are filled with love, compassion and wisdom... which is what PoP and Mr PoP need right now.
Murphy has taught you well and his canine light lives on in your feline heart Fred.
Get out there and love them!
We all know you have accepted the mantle of prime feline in the PoP household and are equally sure you will rise to the occasion.
I can see the headline now:
Cat Promoted to Top Dog
Keep up the good work Fred. We know you can do it.
POP, check out these dog posts:

I read them whenever i miss my old buddy Fred
If anyone can do it Fred, you can.
Fred, with your new found responsibility, you should get a raise. Maybe you should suggest an extra bag of catnip, or maybe some real tuna fish in your food once a week. After all...you're doing the work of eight paws with only four...it's only fair. Just sayin'...
Hang in there POP and Mr.POP. I'm glad you have Fred to help you through this.
aw fred have they let you grieve any! But you are probably up for this responsibility! give them pop's a hug for me!
Fred, you are a very good kitty cat. You're already doing a great job.
Way to rise to the challenge, Fred. You take care of PoP and Mr. PoP, and of your sweet self. Ask PoP to give you a little pinch o' the 'nip for me, okay?
{{{hugs}}}for everyone- you included, Freddie - so sad about Murphy.
My best wishes to everyone in the Morning Martini household.
that's right fred. a cat's gotta do, what a cat's gotta do.
my thoughts and best wishes are still with you.
Way to go Fred!
Fred is a nice-looking cat. I think he kinda realizes he is in good hands.
Cats are wise and strong. You are living proof, Fred. Happy weekend.
Yeah Fred will do the trick! A lot of people don't realize the stress surviving pets feel. They are often lost too. Little Bill who you may know expressed it well as she is uniquely outfitted to do.
Fred, you are one fluffy cat. I have no doubt you'll be incredibly absorbent.
Just remember Fred, "with great power comes great responsibility."
- Uncle Ben Parker
If anyone can do it, you can, Fred! Bless you in your new duty as chief pet!
PoP...
I am truly sorry for your loss. I had to put my cat David to sleep and it broke my heart.
His lungs were the size of peas when I let him go. He was always there for me in good times and bad and even today I miss him dearly.
It is over twenty five years and it still seems like it was yesterday.
I will say a pray for you, Mr. Pop and Murphy.
Take care and...
God Bless.
We are still sending you all healing hugs and purrs. Fred, you are now officially Top Cat and it's a huge responsibility, but you are worthy of it. Hang in there dude, and know that you've got tons of friends rooting you on!
Luf, Us
I know you're up to the task, Fred. A well-timed purr and nuzzle can work wonders.
PoP....
I still occasionally read your blog....
I am very sorry to read about Murphy.... I know he's in heaven looking down on you and Mr. PoP and telling his heaven doggie friends how lucky he was to be your dog here on Earth.....
take care and keep blogging..... it helps....
you are the best!
Dennis feels for Fred. Sorry you lost a pal, and I admire you for helping the humans through this difficult time. Dennis understands how this goes.
fred - i'm sure you can do this! however, there's one requirement you must meet. you have to get up from whatever is your recliner-of-the-moment and move! you're gonna have to go to where the humans are....
Fred, You are up to job. Take good care of your people---I know it is their job to take care of you---but you need to be extra cute, affectionate and cuddle inspiring. I know you can do it!
Fred, I'm glad you're embracing this important responsibility. I know my cats have always had to endure tears in their fur and have done it gladly, so I'm sure you will do a great job. We're sorry for your loss, as well. Hugs to you and the POP family.
You go, Fred. We can see you have it in you. La Casa de Los Gatos encourages you to do the needful. Los Gatos de La Casa have plenty of practice consoling the broken-hearted, so come by anytime for advice. And let your peeps know that we'll try to find things to amuse them with &mdash a necessary task during such sad times.
Good luck Fred, I know you will do a fine job!
Oh man... I'm glad the Pops have got you with them, Fred. Losing such a pal is one of things that'll bring ya Way Down and, while feeling through is good and necessary, getting back to Life and its wonders (such as new Gardenias {-; ) is made easier by friends like you.
Lotsa Love too all y'all.
