OUCH!

Thank goodness I had prepared yesterday’s post early Sunday morning, else wise, there wouldn’t have been one.

Sunday afternoon Mr. Pop and I decided we should do a test run on the new hurricane accordion shutters that were recently installed. Should a hurricane approach they will protect the alcove at the entrance to our home. The shutters are hung on either side of the entrance and they hang from a track overhead. When it’s time to use them all we do is screw in the lower track to the floor area and pull the shutters together and lock them.

So Sunday, we installed the track on the floor of the entrance. The next step was to pull the two accordion pieces together to lock them shut. I was sitting on the floor and looking to see if the track was clear of all projections from the installation screws. I told Mr. Pop not to pull the shutters together as I had my fingers in the track. Since he was on the other side of the shutters, he didn’t hear me and forcefully pulled the shutters together.

The next thing he heard was my scream of “NO!”. But it was too late and my index finger on my right hand was cut all to hell. There was blood all over my hand and I saw stars. Damn, it hurt so much. No stitches were needed but between the cut and the bruise, my right hand is basically out of commission for a while. I am typing this like a beginner typist (very slowly) and using my computer mouse is almost impossible. My left hand doesn’t know the mouse the way my right one does. So posts for the next couple of days will be shorter but hopefully sweeter. I’ll be back to visiting and commenting on your site as soon as I can. As Fred the Cat would say, right now this human has one super sore paw.

Sorry for the injury. I know Mr. PoP is sorry and feels awful for being the cause of the hurt. Get better soon. In our married life I have been the cause of a few mashed Mrs Monk fingers in various construction projects so I think it must be a part of marriage.

Sheeeeeeeeee- it! Ouch is an understatement.

Yikes PoP. Feel better.

Mr He Is has not caused me any bodily harm, accidentally or otherwise. However, we have only been married 6 months!

On my own, I did manage to shut my finger in the french doors that lead to the patio on Saturday. No blood but an "F bomb" was dropped and I had to pay my 11 year old step daughter $1.

You see- regular cussin' gets her a
quarter. F-bombs are a dollar. She does not make very much as not only am I careful, I am cheap.

Feel better!!!!!

Oh no!!! That sounds so painful! Now, if it were me (and I know you are much nicer than I am), I would make sure my husband felt just enough guilt to hire a maid to do all the housework for a month or so. But I'm Catholic, and we're really good at dishing out guilt. ;-)

Get better soon, kiddo. Don't worry about the posts, we'll all be here when you can type again.

I hope your finger and hand heal quickly, Pop. If I lived closer, I'd come by and bring you some yummy comfort food, but I'll just have to settle for sending you good wishes from afar.

Yikes!!!! Have Mr. Pop bring you a martini every 30 minutes, while you recover on the couch in front of the TV. That's some quality rehab.

Ouch, indeed. I would have hollered a lot more than "NO".

Many moons ago I broke my right hand and had to wear a cast from the fingertips to elbow for nearly 10 weeks. The entire right arm was basically a paperweight for that time. I couldn't hold anything, grab anything, and as a secretary I was extraordinarily lucky to have a compassionate boss.

I still have some checks I wrote during that time frame. I'm still amazed the bank didn't question them - did a 6-yr-old steal my checkbooks or something?

Anyway, much sympathy and good wishes for a swift recovery.

I hate when that happens.

dr. scott recommends a nutritious, delicious, double Mr. POP martini and 5 milligrams of hydro-codone (if there’s any handy.)

Good Lord,
I cringed just reading this. So sorry for your sore paw. I sure wish there was something I could do. Cosmic catnip maybe? Patricia, Mr. Pop must have hanged his head pretty low after that. I almost feel as bad for him as I do you. I cannot imagine what Fred is thinking. Get well soon.

Fortunately, it is quite possible to grasp a martini stem without placing unwanted stress on the index finger, and it really doesn't look all that pretentious, so, phew! And heal quickly!
