Bits and Pieces

We might have a guest blogger here at Morning Martini tomorrow. I’m not sure this is going to happen, but I have a feeling it might. That’s all I’m going to tell you for now.

The fix it guy charged $200.00. I felt it was a fair price and considering the trouble he had taking out the old drains, he earned every penny of it. He is married and a born in the USA, American. I wish I could clone him. I would send copies to everyone as Christmas presents.

The stock market hit a new high yesterday. Feel richer?

The population of the US reached a new high this week. Feel more crowded? And by the way, why was that something to applaud?

The president got his torture permit this week. Feel safer?

Nope, I don't feel richer, or safer. I feel, well, lost, without a country we can be proud of anymore.

Thank you! I've been wondering if anyone else felt the same. Crowded...yes, definitely. Here in San Diego, you literally can't stretch your arms without hitting someone. And I'm wondering if, by the end of my lifetime, there will be any wide open spaces left anywhere in this country or if we'll be a coast-to-coast subdivision of condos and mcmansions with adjacent strip malls. The more definitely isn't the merryier.

Someone is getting rich off the stock market, but it ain't me. Guess Bush's cronies will be having a merry Christmas.

Can your fix-it guy travel to california?

I'll feel safer when the repugs just start torturing each other and leave the rest of us alone. Maybe that will happen after November. Maybe.

I'm feeling remarkably well because everything is doing remarkably well. Darth Cheney and Lush Bimbo say so, so it must be true.

I feel neither safer nor richer, but I sure as hell do feel more crowded.

Right now, I feel like grabbing the heads of Bush and bin Laden and bonking them together repeatedly. Later on, I'll feel like curling up in a cave and sleeping soundly for a week or so. Do these count?

The capitalists want more people. How sick is that?

The population doubling time is shorter and shorter. Have you ever researched what the population was the year you were born? It's quite revelatory. That's a lot of food and water for everyone. I wonder what happens to the planet in order to provide it. Wall Street is a measure of rich man's wealth. It is too bad we don't have as much attention paid to the workers on Main Street and their dwindling work-earned dollars. The suspension of Habeas Corpus, a grinning moment for our president. I've never felt more out of step with the zeitgeist than I do at this moment.

Nah, nah, nah. Foreign news services are reporting that Americans are in revolt against Republicans based upon polls and election predictions. So it has to get this bad before people take action. Let's keep our fingers and toes and anything else we can crossed hoping we can get the changes to take place.

No, I don't. How's that?

But I do feel hopeful that the election is 19 days away.

Can we draft Barak Obama?

I feel richer with everyday I wake up so I can see and hear the beauty in our world here on earth (without turning on a radio tv or picking up the paper) As far as the president's torture permit it's been like Revelations since he's been in office and the rest of his goons.

no, i feel no safer than i did when 9/11 happened

as far as the crowded comment

all one has to do is travel by bike, car or train thru out this country to see the miles of vacant land...

i think it was their intentions to move us out of rural areas into cities...in cities we can be herded around better

Yeah...just what we needed more people to hassle with. The various couples that had these babies at the 7:46 am time are apparently fighting over whom is the winner of THAT particular honor. Frogs are going to fall from the sky over this dilemma...no, I take that back...it only happens in Egypt.

No I don't feel safer. I feel betrayed.

Sorry for not commenting more often. Lots has been happening and Blogger has been cranky about comments (or maybe it's just me).

I know what you mean Granny. I'm having my Morning Martini after 3AM.This night shift thing is screwing up my surfing. Richer or safer? No. But I have hope in our people to right the wrongs. I hope I'm not naive.

No, Divajood - you can't have Barak Obama! He's MINE!! MY SENATOR! MINE MINE MINE MINE MINE!!!

I'd vote for him in a heartbeat if he ran. I did already when he ran for Senate. He's one politician who actually has his staff send out "does not sound like a copy and paste job" e-mail responses. Even uses my first name! *Brushes knuckles on chest in mock pride*

Everthing I hear from him just sounds so... "Right"

The stock market seems to mirror the rise in casualties in Iraq, doesn't it? I hear it's on pace to be a record month for American dead, too. So these fortunes really ARE built on the dead bodies of the poor!

Yes. Please send repair man clone asap. I'm falling apart here.

Answers to the others are no I don't feel richer, nor safer but definitely more crowded. I'm not applauding for any of that either.
