Today, Hopes, Dreams

We all wait today on pins and needles to see what will happen in Connecticut. If Lamont wins, it will be a major step toward sanity and it will send a signal to both Democrats and Republicans. It will let them know that there is a part of America that doesn’t believe in war just for the sake of killing. It will tell them that we know what they did and we don’t like it one bit.

Democrats aren’t soft on defense. Democrats can be as hard on defense as the Republicans. We just don’t create false reasons to go on the offense. We believe in honesty, and yes peace, if it is at all possible. We really do believe in war as a last resort, the very last resort.

We don’t believe that the unnecessary taking of lives as the result of an unnecessary war is the American way. We don’t believe torturing people is the American way. After all, this is our America we’re talking about.

So as we watch and wait for the Connecticut results to come in, we hope and we dream. We dream about the possibility of one day America returning to what it was before all hell broke out, before the bush administration began it’s abuse and degradation of our country. We hope for a change.

We must never give up our hopes and dreams. Those are the things we mustn’t ever allow them to take from us. So whatever the outcome in Connecticut today, please hold on to your hopes and especially your dreams.

I am a democrat, always have been. But just because someone is democrat doesn't mean much now-a-days, though many pay lip service to being a dem. I don't want a politician, I want someone who will do the right thing for the people of the US, and the country. Wages get lower, benefits less, if they haven't moved overseas. Prices get higher and the rich get even richer. Do I put all my faith in democrats? No, I would vote for a moonie if they would do the best for us and the country. I am tired of the polits sitting on their asses criticizing others and doing nothing themselves other than moving their lips and collecting a check.

Hey, do they have diebolt voting machines in CT? Mark my words, watch for a squeaker of a race with a "win" by "Lie"berman (closet neocon).
Sadly, there are no "real" elections anymore...it is all just a dog and pony show for public consumption.

The only problem with a Lamont win is that it will be an excuse for the neo cons to label Democrats as unpatriotic, far left moonbats out of touch with the population.

I want a Lamont win because it is a chance to let both the President and the Congress know that the people are coming out of their long stupor, but too much glee or over the top celebration could backfire.

Your disgusting. Are you asserting that our military is killing for no reason and that we are torturing these people? I hope not.

Were you half as hot on this topic when Saddam WAS doing this to his people? NO.

Hopes and dreams? Is that what you think Ben Franklin, Washington, and other Fathers of the US would think about these situations? Your crazy.

And yes, the Dumbacrats are horribly soft on defense. That's not why they don't control the majority of ANY arm of government - that's because they also soft on offense. No one wants a socialist state here in the US except for maybe you and your coterie of marxist liberals.

Patty - "Pins and Needles" is just my mood. It won't just send a signal to Dems and Repubs, it will send a signal to Indies like myself.

Dolphin Girl - I'm not one to correct others spelling so much, but in the interest of correct info the Republican Voting Machine Company is DIEBOLD. You're right, if Diebold is doing the counting, we're screwed. I think
Bradblog will have the info on that.

To all - I have no doubt that 2000 and 2004 elections were stolen and in this fall's election and 2008 it either will be too or they'll let a Republican Lite Dem win it. I think we invest too much hope in any one person to solve it all.

So, since I believe the Bush Regime to be the greatest threat to you and I, I say it's time to take the gloves off.
(Left hand hi 5 to Left in Aboite).

Peace. It's Possible. We just might have to steal it. That is if we are hungry enough for it.

Human, NOTHING was stolen, except possibly your brain by a zombie or the television.

The election of 2000 was won fair and square as designed by our Founding Fathers in the form of the electoral college (ever heard of it!?).

The 2004 election marked a record breaking victory for American politics and is indisputable.

What was stolen about these elections my friend? Come out from under the rock.

Lets not put to much weight on this election. If Lieberman wins, does not mean Republicans will keep control of the Congress later this Fall, or the White House in 08'.

Having said that, GOOOO, Lamont!

Senator Schlessinger. Pratice saying that, it might help you get used to it by the time November comes around. So much for the Dems chances of taking over the Senate. Now all the anti-war Left has to do is figure out a way to blow what looks like a sure chance to take over the House of Representatives. Don't worry, they can do it, I have faith in them. They're Democrats.

Ok now those are fightin' words you right wing hack!!! I served in The Marine Corps, and have to ask you how did you serve? Are you like the rest of the Chicken Hawks? Wanna chalenge me, this southern man to a duel? If not, I can make the challenge and watch you walk away like the rest of those chicken hearted wanna be a hero types!!

DO NOT question my loyalty to my country. I signed on the dotted line and my choice was to do it with action, and not with words alone. I love my country, and NO ONE can question that. I fight for Vets rights, and what do you do, you question others patriotism. Well you sir can go to hell with the rest of them.

I cry for every soldier that loses his/her life and I will not take much more right wing BS on this matter. Tread lightly buddy, you are talking to a MARINE!!! A former Republican Marine at that. So bring it on. Talk down to me like the winger you are. People like you only help bring more like me into the fold.

Go Ned Lamont!

but we do need to remember that this primary is Democrats voting against Democrats. In that sense, it has nothing to do with how Democrats nationally will do against their Republican opponents.

Could Lieberman really have been the party's nominee for vice-president just 6 years ago? iirc, he didn't help the ticket much at all.

pop,
eloquently put. The Lieberman-Lamont duel represents two positions within the Dem party on the war and for CT Dems represents a choice between giving up a powerful senator on a vote of conscience on a single issue (tht is touted by the RW zealots as the defining issue of our time) and maintaining that power despite Lieberman's continued position on the war in support of a president that persists in a fight the American people have decided they do not wnt to continue.

Oh, & Dr. Rick, As a nurse anesthesia student, unless you have given up the training that would allow you to call yourself doctor, only your first name is honest, and you hold yourself out as something you are not, just as you are not capable of defining either democrats or liberals. You're stuck in the same 70s stereotypes as the Goddess of Conservatism and the filth spewers whose work you so adore and whose crap you have digested so much of that it's impossible to distinguish your mouth from your ass. Your contribution to our nation is limited to enjoying the freedoms provided by those such as donnie mcdaniel you hypocrit, and your invitation to him is pretty safe, considering that it is virtual.

The good "doctor" rick has himself quite a little blog. Hard to figure out exactly what he stands for, except Not-Liberals. Morning Martini got an interesting shout out over that boys fighting analogy. Good job, PoP! Although he apparently sees himself as an intellectual, he seems to have slept through the lectures on metaphors and analogies.

Other cool stuff I learned from his blog: the doc's panties get all knotted up when liberals bitch about heat, and he most decidedly does not appreciate people coming to his site and launching a personal attack. Go figure.

I say, keep him running in circles. By the time the vertigo wears off, it will be 2008, we'll have a democratic congress and another democrat ready to step into the presidency.

You know, it is the Republicans who characterize Dems as dreamers, not connected to the real world, a bit naive on national defense. While they--the GOP-- are hard nosed realists, tough, steely-eyed defenders of the country with their support of guns and bombs and boot on the ground.

But look at what has happened. Bush and Cheney and Rummy and Condi are all living in a never-never bubble, blissfully ignorant of the real world. "Iraq is not a quagmire. There is no civil war raging in Iraq. We are fighting terrorists over there so we don't have to fight them over here. We are not creating terrorists. Freedom is on the march. The terrorists are in their last throes, if you will. Mission accomplished."

The people running our government and our military are in la-la land. What kinds of drugs are they taking, anyway?

(BTW, Patricia, thanks for the kind words)

What a punk.

In other news - CNN covered Sen. Lieberman's "concession speech" just about in total. Maybe the last minute was shown. Nothing, Nada, zero of Mr. Lamonts Victory speech was shown. Instead CNN put up a fluff piece on Lieberman that they had shown earlier in the day. MSNBC showed a bit of Lieberman's speech. None of Mr. Lamony's. Earlier in the day Mr. Lamont's campaign mgr deftly handled Chris Mathews accussatory tone when he tried to blame Mr. Lamont's campaign for Lieberman's site failure.

I also posted the speech cvrg at C&L and notified MEDIA MATTERS.
