Thank you, Fred the Cat

Fred the Cat, along with those three feral little cats that he recruited to help him the last couple of months, stimulated the economy to the tune of $265.00 yesterday as I had to replace seven large screen panels in our screen enclosure. Fred the Cat can do enough damage on his own on the inside, but having those other three cats climbing up and down the screen on the outside, speeded up the replacement necessity.

The man who replaces our screens swears he sends money to Fred the Cat to encourage him to do the damages. If this is true, the guy gets his money’s worth from Fred’s efforts.

Do they make screens out of titanium, perchance?

I'll bet if you look around in Fred's toybox you'll find a couple of stock certificates for Lowe's or Home Depot.

Maybe it's time to take Fred on vacation with ya too. He might feel better about the screens when he comes home. Either that or take Sewmouse's suggestion though I don't think really strong metal would stop Fred for long.

Sheesh, how many times is Fred gonna ruin the screens!? And now he's got friends on the outside doing it too?

I think Fred needs a stern talking-to, and a more attractive alternative--perhaps a new (catnip-loaded) scratching post?

I agree with dguzman.
Fred is merely dropping an expensive, metal hint to you that he would like a tall, interesting object to scratch.
I recommend at least a 2 level carpet covered thingy.
Or a large, empty cardboard box.
Excellent non-verbal communication, Fred!

I'm with fallenmonk-- if you check that toy box you might also find a couple of pairs of pliers and a yankee drill.

as to the catnip scratchers -- no such luck. Jake-the-mighty-hunter has 2. the screens have been up for 4 months and one [so far] has had to be repaired.

I think those who run the screen-replacement outfits find out where all the cats live, and they act accordingly. There is undoubtedly some paw-greasing going on.

Fred and buddies are true supporters of the President's economic plan. How can we recruit them for Health Care?
