Shooting Birds in My Nightgown

This morning I was out in my backyard in my nightgown. I was armed with a camera and I was hunting for some farm raised trial attorneys to shoot. I thought I saw one. As I swung around to shoot, the early morning sun was in my eyes. I fired. Sadly, I quickly saw what I had hit. This scissor tailed kite, being harassed by a fish crow. You can see that the picture is a bit blurred because I realized just as I pressed the button on the camera what was about to happen. I’ve waited until now to make the picture public as I had been drinking coffee at breakfast and there might have been some caffeine in my bloodstream at the time of the shooting.

Neither the crow not the kite can be reached for comment.

I think you're doin' a heckuva job. Let's hope this doesn't impact your approval rating.

Let's keep that farm raised trial lawyer comment between us, shall we? Wouldn't want Rich to take offense if he's one of them critters.

I used to watch the frigate birds sail on the windcurrents in the keys when I sailed dow there. Always loved those birds - aren't they a close cousin of kites?

Thanks for the drink - I feel much better now.

Where these birds farm raised, or wild? Hey, PoP, what type of camera are you using? Just curious. I'm in the market for a new used digital.

PoP, I think there should be an investigation into this incident.

Pogo...you mean you DO actually know the name of some birds?!

Nightgown shooting indeed.

The big question: Will the crow & the kite apologize to you for getting shot?

Nicely worded by the way... Very nice indeed.

If you show up in the Senate, they will give you a standing ovation for that at least they did for Cheney. Here in Pinellas County, we are known for our eagles. There was a forested area that developers wanted, but they couldn't get a permit because it had an eagles nest. Then, the eagles disappeared, nest and all. Now, there are expensive homes there and I hope they are all haunted by screaching eagles.

Jamie, I'm predicting Hurricane Valerie will be the one to most affect the administration this year!

POP, love, love, love your writing!

P.S. Jamie, I had hoped the NWS would take the George Forman approach to hurricane names this year and appropriately named them:

George 1
George 2
George 3...

I like your bird shot. No question what it is so in most cases that's all that counts.

That's pretty funny.

In about a week is the bird going to apologize to you and your family for the difficulty it caused you?

ds, I'm betting on Joyce & Michael. We should all put a $1 on the table and look up the archives when the season is over and everything has missed PoP.

No explanation necessary. It's the bird's fault, no doubt.

I once shot an elephant in my pajamas.

What he was doing in my pajamas, I'll never know...

This is an argument for arming every citizen if I ever saw one. Can you imagine the photos we'd have if everyone could shoot whenever they want to?

You're pretty cool!
