Another tack: can you think of another VP choice that would help sway Clinton supporters? Bayh was a well known HRC backer and surrogate.

Tim Kaine is a fabulous guy. He's genuinely likeable and Catholic and a popular governor from a trending purple state.

We need to allow the up and comers a share of the spotlight. They have had to fight for their spotlight against some who will not give it up.

Forget Bayh; he's a jerk and has voted exactly like McCain has about all Iraq issues. Aside from Iraq, he votes like McCain MOST OF THE TIME! Here's a snip -

The bill has destroyed the financial lives of hundreds of thousands of American families, primarily those who were hit with catastrophic illnesses. Not a single self-respecting or half-way honest, decent member of the Senate voted for it. Even Joe Lieberman abandoned his Republican buddies on this hideous piece of anti-working family legislation. Obama opposed it, as did Barbara Boxer and Dianne Feinstein, Chris Dodd, Dick Durbin, Ron Wyden, Russ Feingold, Kennedy, Harkin, Kerry, Lautenberg, Leahy... every Democrat who cares for people and families over corporations and campaign contributors opposed this brazen "F-U" to working people. Bayh joined with all the people Obama is running against: McCain, McConnell, Cornyn, Inhofe, Collins, Sununu, Coleman, bribe-slurping Ted Stevens, Pat Roberts hypocrite Gordon Smith (a walking exemplar of corruption with 117 earmarks worth $151,782,310 to his "credit"), Lindsey Graham... all the Bush rubber stamps.

Yeah, a lot of Democrats are or have been friends with Joe Lieberman. Some of them have been rather friendly with John McCain. So what? Virginia is on the cusp of voting Democrat for President for the first time in decades. The presence of our own Democratic Governor on the ticket would definitely tip the scales in Obama's favor.

I have serious issues with Evan Bayh and having heard him speak live I can only tell you that I found him stupefyingly boring. He truly looked like a cardboard cut out up at the podium.

even tho i really believe the veep means very little in the election, you are right -- it means something for the future. kaine is "good buds" with lieberman -- a major problem for me.

i like biden a lot, a bit of a loose cannon, but very qualified. bayh would be the safe choice
